I'm a Goth. I wear leather, spiked collar and stuff. D3 is NOT gothic, ok? It looks like from Beetlejuice cartoon. All those blue, green and violet hues. There is ZERO occult, religious and satanic symbolism. There are very few corpses and very little blood. It's a cathedral for kids who find a skeleton or a zombie scary.

Bartering was very fun in D2. Actually, it was THE main feature which kept me playing. I was farming items, ONLY to participate in trade, where I had the most fun. This will not be the case with D3.

It's funny, but when I read the name of this thread, I expected D3 bash. Instead, it's a D2 bash...

There will be probably no bartering in D3. There are two main reasons for that:

1. GAH/RMAH You can always sell stuff faster there.
2. No good chat support. I did most of my trading on POL-1 national channel. There is no such thing in D3.

If you enjoy bartering, then why do you care? If you care more about efficiency, then you shouldn't barter, that much is true. Although the AH has a 10 item limit, so you could always barter on the side.

What's the problem with joining the trade channel, advertising your items and then negotiating the exact price in whispers with the potential buyer?

IMO, the future of D3 bartering is something like D2jsp. You will bet able to get better deals and save 15% AH fee. GAH will be only for crap. All the best items will go through third-party sites.

One of the best features of D2jsp is an ability to NEGOTIATE the deal. This completely not possible with GAH or RMAH.
