Hi to all. Iīm new to registering and posting but I have been around and reading forum since a very long time.
I have tested beta this weekend and I had a problem everytime I logged in and played.
My problem is that no matter what video setting I use (ultra low, medium or high) my FPS jumps from normal FPS (50 or more depending the video settings) to 0 and then goes back to normal. This happens when mostly I activate a game physic, discover new parts of a level that has mobs or mostly anytime I hit a barrel thing.
I tried many things to see if the problem remains on my machine or is a beta issue. I updated drivers, windows updates (even formatted PC) and changed back and up video drivers and switched any combination on my video card driver options.
This issue makes gameplaying very furstrating as it happens a lot and stops frames for an instant.
My machine specifications are
Notebook model - HP Pavilion dv7-4295us (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...roduct=5094565)
GPU - 2nd generation Intel Core i7-2630QM Processor 2.00GHz with Turbo Boost Technology up to 2.90 GHz
RAM - 8GB
Video card - ATI Mobility Radeon HD 6570 graphics (or ATI Radeon HD 6570M) (http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Rad...M.41479.0.html)
SO - Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Latency - mostly 280 (green)
Based on this my PC should be capable of medium/high settings without problems
As I said I tested many things so see if issue persisted, decreased or something but no matter what changes I did the issue remained the same. I even tried decreasing Catalyst Control Center to version 12.1 as some other person suggested but the issue was the same as with 12.3. I ran performance fixes, closed all possible windows services, closed al programs, windowed mode, fullscreen mode, with CCC open or closed, setting all CCC things to performance mode but nothing changed.
Also as a side note, I noticed that Diablo 3 overheats my machine more than many other games (for testing purposed I tried Dead Rising 2 at Ultra high setting and still machine temp was cooler than with Diablo's 3 lowest settings. And no this thing doesn't seem to be the problem either as I managed sometimes to lower the temp a lot but issue remained unaffected
Did anyone else encounter similar issues?
P.D. Sorry for the wall text post, Just wanted to provided all the necessary info I had.

I did with my desktop and for me it was a thermal problem. CPU (i5 750) was overheating and the overheat protection was kicking in and throttling it back. Cleaning the dust off of my heatsinks fixed it for me. I dug around on the issue trying to fix it and some people said turning the sound channels down to 32 or 16 fixed the problem for them.
It does still cause the CPU to run hotter than most other games. Which I don't really understand as D3 only sits at about 55-60% CPU usage on my system.
Seeing as you are on a laptop are there any power management settings that could be throttling the cpu?
Yes. At first my pc was overheating bad because of dust on fan but I cleaned it and worked fine again but the problem was the same with diablo 3 (the FPS issue) . So the FPS issue on my case isn't related to overheat. Anyway even now fan is fully cleaned I still believe Diablo 3 overheat more than other games having less specs.
Regarding your power management soution, no, my laptop is set on high performance power management option with all high performance options on (no energy save).
In fact I even tried reducing CPU GHz use to see if the issue became worst but no the issue remained the same so I also can guess that GHz issue is not the problem.
But regarding the FPS and the sound solution, yes I read that also before on forum and tried it but still it didn't fix it so I'm pretty clueless of how to solve it or if it in fact a Diablo 3 issue that will get solved on retail version.
Anyway thanks for your answer.
How long did you play the game with these issues?
The beta has a tendency of doing this when your game client needs to load various effects and areas for the first time. Over this past open beta weekend, I had these problems daily, for about the first 15 minutes playing. After that short time period, the freezes decreased in occurrence and eventually the game ran smooth as ever.
I played long enough continously but the issue didnīt seem to decrease for me. I hope is just a beta client issue and doesnīt remain on retail because it turned my gamplay pretty slow even got killed twice for this issue with mobs that I wouldnīt die on other way.
Thanks for your answer.
Sorry for the double post but I found out a thread that describes this issue that seems many more are having and also a video that shows what the problem I'm talking is about. This may help others with same problem to know that is highly probable that is a client/server side issue and not our own PCs.
Getting further information from those threads, it seems that is a problem of how diablo 3 reads data. Instead of caching it on RAM it does on hard drive.
Some people fixed this slow downs by reducing sound channels on options to lowest possible. Others fixed it by updating video card drivers. Others did by defragmenting disk.
But for some others like myself, neither of those worked out.

I have to unfortunately rebump this so I don't create a new duplicated thread because the same exact issue is present on full game.
I'm having these hiccups too. I have a 2008 desktop, but it's plenty enough to run the game (2 Gb ram, geforce 8600 GT). I lowered all graphical details to a min and put it on 1280x768 fullscreen. Most of the time it runs ok, but every 3 mins or so game slows to a crawl for 30 secs or so. It definitely is a memory issue because it comes up more frequently when I add up more graphical details or increase resolution (meaning more data swap needed).
Anyway, I updated the video card drivers and haven't had it eversince. But I only played like 5 mins after that, so I'm not sure I actually fixed it. Will try again this weekend.
For mny of us not even updatin g drivers or anything that common sense would dictate is working. There are so many threads on US and EU servers about this and Blizzar seems to be ignoring them or just clueless of what is happening.
The first stuttering thread even got overwhelmed and a new one had to be made.

I'm thinking maybe I should post in this thread to avoid creating a duplicate.
My problem doesn't seem to be nearly as bad, but I'm still maxing out at roughly 17-18 FPS on average and it drops to 10-12 FPS during intense fights and certain game areas. And this was after I disabled shadows, which made the game at least playable, before that it was running like a dying man with arthritis. My machine is not the absolute best, but it's from 2011 and hits all the requirements. I'm really at a loss as to why it runs so slow, relatively speaking.
