Diablo 3 Open Beta extremely slow on iMac 27" late 2009

Hey guys. So I've got a problem.. I've got an iMac 27" late 2009 i5 with screen resolution 2560x1440. When the screen resolution is set on max (2560x1440) and everything else is on the lowest, the game is extremely slow. However, when I choose a lower resolution, it immediately becomes faster. What's the problem? Can it be a beta issue or?

Processor: 2.66 GHz Intel Core i5
    Memory: 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 4850 512 MB
    Software: Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 (11D50b)
    Free HD Space: 145 GB

Oh and by the way, Friday night when the open beta came online, I had no problem with this thing. Although, sometimes it was slow but then it went back to normal/fast... Could someone please help me out? I'm freaking out really...

Looks like someone on the official forums had the same problem: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/4661686289 In case anyone was wondering... By the way do you guys think it might be a beta issue and will be fixed for retail?

It's a known issue, see the official bug thread here confirming that a fix will be in a future patch: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/3530363469

It effects almost all Macs starting with patch 16. FYI, I have a 2011 Macbook Pro Core i7 @ 2.9GHz, AMD 6490 that was running the beta at 60 fps pre patch 16. It is now down to 10fps post patch 16!

I've been all over Vasadan on fixing this issue... it is serious considering probably 1 in 40 D3 players will be on a Mac box. I have two Win 7 machines thankfully, but the MacBook Pro is my mobile option. And with serious hardware like a i7 and 6490, I'm playing every other game just fine. It is truly ridiculous. I'd really like not to run D3 in Win 7 bootcamp on that box because I lose all the reasons for having a mobile Mac if I'm on Win 7 dammit.

Thank you for your reply and yeah, I agree about not wanting to run it on bootcamp on a Mac... Also I did an SMC reset a few hours ago and my Mac's performance (including the Launchpad - it was very slow before) is much better now!
