I just played through the beta 3 times, and I saw all the quest dialogue and some special event dialogue. How did Blizzard manage to make almost every spoken line in the beta cringe-worthy? It's obnoxiously pretentious and naive. The inflections the voice actors make on buzz words like "evil" and "dead" is so ****ing annoying.
My first taste of that teeth grindingly stupid dialogue was from Leah when she was talking about how Cain got pulled into the depths of the cathedral by the meteor. She describes what happened in one or two sentences and about halfway through, her voice starts *rasping* to add unnecessary drama to "he fell in the meteor's crater".
Another part that sticks out on the stupidity meter is King Leoric. He's like a bad cartoon villian all the way up until he actually comes to life and you fight him. Does anyone remember what he was like in Diablo 1? He only said: "The warmth of life has entered my tomb, prepare yourself mortal, to serve my master for eternity" *demonic laugh*. And his delivery of that line was pretty cool, it made me reconsider going into his tomb, especially because I knew so little about him and I had already met The Butcher.
This stuff is my pet-peeve with Diablo 3. I can't get past how stupid most of the dialogue is. Anyone else feel this way?
