Geez, my thread really got hijacked... that wasnt quite the discussion I was expecting, I thought we could share more thoughts about the beta...
perm... you may be agreeing with me in some aspects but still, you are a cancer to this forum.
After reading through the entire thread I am a little surprised no one poined out that even D3 has some gore screens (I think just because a game has a torture chamber with victims in it does not make it gothic), like
d3 cathedral gore screen.jpg
Granted, there are only a few places with such details, but most of the Beta is the Cathedral not a jail, which has naturally a more violent theme. I think we will uncover similar places as we progress through the game, likeSpoiler
That being said, I really wonder what is an appropriate gothic tone? Why do you count Diablo 2 Act 1 until Tristram, maybe Countess (I think thats a fairly assumption about game length, given that you only need 20 minutes to complete the whole D3 Beta, without extra exploring) as gothic?

One way to turn a temp ban to a perma ban is to re-register under a new name while banned.

I get a fealing of meh reading this thread.
Honestly, imo until we play the game we dont truly know what to expect as we still know little about drops, affixes, and viability of builds. If your so unsure of the game all i can say is hold off and make judgment a few months after release. All this bickering about the game will do nothing to change it.
That is (was) some grade A nerdrage, right there.
No need to be like that, man this thread is a downer.
wow...
well at least that last one was entertaining
When I first tried the beta in patch 2 or 3 (iirc) i got the same exact MEH feeling. I lost some excitement for the game and I found the beta unplayable.
But I wonder what it exactly is that you are looking for from the beta. IMO, all you can really get from it is how some of the game systems work. As many people have mentioned A1 of D2 really isn't dark at all. If the game was CONSTANTLY dark then we would be much less sensitive to the ares that are supposed to be dark. Also, we don't really get much of anything on how the game plays. Its the first 8 levels or so, and all you have to do is spam 1 or 2 skills pretty mindlessly.
Even though it is pretty easy now it is much improved from where it was originally where you could practically never die. Now if you sit there and get hit you will die, which is pretty reasonable considering it is the first few levels of the game. I don't even think you can really say which class will even be fun at this point since you have no options. Sure you can get a basic feel for how a class plays, but right now the classes simply smash everything and you don't need defensive abilities.
I'm just not worried about the game because the focus is on the end game. Normal is such a small portion of time played, let alone Act 1 normal. I am really looking forward to Hell and Inferno with champs / rares with 3 /4 mods. Also, the monster mods are pretty awesome from the little we have seen so far (much more creative from D2).
I really thought Perma would last until release. At least he didn't pull a MattyPie.
