Help with FPS (Decent Computer)

Hello, Does anyone have any clue on why i can't get above 20 fps, with a high resolution and medium settings? Even on the login screen my fps sits at 20. For me to actually play the game i have to have the lowest resolution settings and have everything turned down. Any help would be appreciated.

Maybe the game is trying to run on Intel HD graphics instead of your Radeon, is this a laptop ? If this is the case, your computer may be using "AMD Dynamic Switchable Graphics" which is similar to Optimus for NVidia. To force Diablo III to use dedicated graphics you can go in the Catalyst drivers settings, in the profiles, select or create a profile for Diablo 3 and then force the dedicated video card there.

It's not a laptop.

Try downgrading to Catalyst 12.1 since newer versions seem to cause problems on cards earlier than the 7xxx series.

Any other applications open on the background that could be accessing directx? I left media player open with it paused on a video and my game stay locked to 30fps for some reason. Closed media player and relaunched D3 and it was fine.

Flash video also has a tendency to mess with the video card settings, so if you have a browser opened you might want to close it before playing the game.
