Beast as pre-buff for say, a zealot?

Sorry if this is a noob question but I'm wondering if say, Beast would work as a pre-buff for a pally? Can you zeal/smite while transformed into a bear for example? For that matter, can you block while a bear?

If your zealot is wearing Enigma, I would use Wizardpike and a Spirit shield, for the 75% fcr breakpoint together with lots of mana and max res while teleporting, otherwise CtA+Spirit is better.
