Does anyone know how long it took for both standard and hardcore? I remember way back my buddy was part of the first party to complete hardcore Nightmare on the USEast servers (they all ended up dying in Act 1 hell, lol), but I have no idea how long after release this all occurred.
If anyone has this info I was hoping to compare it to Diablo 3 upon release.
I think on softcore it was around 2 days? I don't think it was more tbh, and then 3 days for HC my guess, or maybe even 2 as well![]()
i forget, i remember it took me a good while to beat hell finally but i also switch characters a lot. guess thats something i dont have to worry about so much this time around
Well I only played hardcore on the USeast servers, but I know it took way longer than a few days for the first hell clear.
The lag issues were so bad the first few weeks the game was released.. which severely limited the hardcore players.
I may be mistaken, but I think the environment was less hardcore back in 1999...sure there'd be people who tried to rush, but I think that the bossnerds of today are much more hardcore.
Also, there would've been more figuring-out to do back in 1999, whereas due to how much bigger the internet has become, we know so much more about D3 prior to release than we did for D2.
when d2 first hit people were farming arcane sanc forever. was a lot different game then, very little rushing in those days. was so much more fun than it is now
That is so sick, diablo 3 shouldn't be about getting/finishing inferno first. Where is the joy in that ? Playing for 50-70 hours straight is just sick, no way i could find that enjoyable. I might play 20 hours from release the first day, but there is no point in pumping caffeine and energy drinks just to keep me awake. That is faken torture ...
It'll interesting to see what the balance between farming gear in hell and pushing inferno will be for progression through it. I'm skeptical of the 'months' Bashiok has been claiming, but I really do wonder how hard it'll be.

We all play the game in the way which brings us the most fun - some people just find it fun to try and be the first at beating the game. More power to them, even if it's not for me.
@Neinball - I'm also sceptical about the 'months' thing. I that other thread which was about taking bets on how long it'd take someone to beat Inferno, I guessed 12 days :P.
It took a while before D2 became the weird rush-a-thon it eventually became for so many. At first, people actually played through the quests and cleared the levels like if it was a normal game. Shocking, I know.
