This.Even i am your arch-foe Enlil, i also agree with you on what you said above.
To enforce your first sentence : "Another way to look at it is, if a player wants something that is listed only the GAH but he has no gold, but he does have some money in his bnet balance, he will buy the gold and purchase the item/mats from GAH." most players (the so called casuals - limited time to play gamers) will kinda NEED to buy Gold in RMAH.
10 hours / day player (the pro gamer) vs 2 hours / day player (the casual). The casual will NEED like 5 times MORE time to have same status (gold or gear) as the pro gamer. If the pro gamer needs 3 months for BEST GEAR (farmed or bought with his 5 times more gold), the casual will need 15 months.
No casual that can afford to spend money will choose to farm 15 months. The casuals will HAVE TO spend money to fil in the gap, either by buying items from RMAH or gold to be spent in GAH.

LMAO !
Oh, there are still left plenty of issues where we aren't going to agree with eachother...and the game is not even out yet !
After release will be a cascade on forums with "I told you so!" sentences
Sadly, i will probably read them in July, because time is money, and while now i can afford to read/write for 6 hours...this ain;t going to happen once the Revolution starts (i mean once Diablo 3 is going live).
On the current topic :
Gold will be the most sold in RMAH, but there will also be enough very good items (top weapons and gear, high lvl gems maybe rare crafting plans).
Yep, I might check this fourm once each day for any interesting info, but time is money people.
If regard to this thread, the awnser is: "Gold will be sold in RMAH, but there will also be enough very good items (top weapons and gear, high lvl gems maybe rare crafting plans and mats)."
Thread now closed. Enlil, Semakka & Fizz have spoken![]()
Your theory only works if the "best items" are confined to the Gold AH, so there is a real demand for excess gold over and above what the game gives you for repairs, scrolls and in game progression. Except I think that the general consensus is that the best items will end up on the RMAH.
Here is why:
Out of the millions of people that play this game, the 'average' player will massively out number the AH traders / earners.
For that reason they have a far better chance of finding that legendary or that "perfect" stat item and when they do, unless they want to keep it for themselves for pure enjoyment of the game, their 1st instinct will be to make some real life money.. so off to the RMAH they go and because they do, the buyers will go there too.
This means that there will not be a need to buy gold ... you don't need gold if the items you are after are not being sold for gold.
Gold will be useful to players of the AH that want to gamble on crafting. If an end user has the chance to buy a completed item for real money with no chance of randomness they will do so over buying gold with real money to craft items themselves.
There are exceptions to the rule, but there are with every argument on these forums.
