I just want to point out, that D3 should more similar to D2 than to WoW. I'm not saying WoW is a bad game. I played it for three years. However, I played WoW for different reasons than I played Diablo.
Oh, my avatar is from Warcraft 3, not from WoW. XD
d3 still feels like diablo to me, even if they borrowed much from wow. playing it feels like i am playing diablo not like i am playing wow. hell i dont even think about wow while playing
If there was an FPS with stylized graphics, saturated color use, ect, would you say it was like WoW? Of course you wouldn't because the games aren't even in the same genre, just like D3 isn't in the same genre as WoW. Even if this game was a Warcraft-based hack n' slash that borrowed its style and a zillion ideas from WoW, it would still have more in common with D2 than WoW just by virtue of it being a hack n' slash and not an MMO.
So if someone says something you don't agree with they are a Troll, bit harsh.Anyway yes there have been a few games come out and they all have some of the same aspects as D2,I wouldn't call them clones.Anyway Mythos does have about the most in common with D3 as it's online only,is an ARPG and has an auction house and an extensive crafting system.Don't even know why people compare these games they are different genres, the dynamics are different. If I was to compare any game it would be Mythos as that has about the most in common with D3.
Even if people say Mythos was far worse than some of the other ARPGs that came out it has about the most similarities which makes it easier to see why D3 would succeed over it than other games that don't even have those aspects.Of course the previous Diablo titles are more comparable as D3 is a continuation of them.
Anyway I said ' 'if' I was to compare' but I wouldn't as I see games on their own merit.
i got planetside 2 for my mmofps needs
D3 feels like D2 with a tiny bit of D1 thrown in, and I say this as a 7 year WoW player and 4 year D2 player. D3's graphics are the only thing that could bring WoW to mind even slightly. Even then, the glowy lighting is used purposefully to communicate something (IE the glowing hole in the Cathedral) and they are obviously still capable of doing dark and moody. (SK's burial chamber) The only art direction that was dark throughout was pre-Hellfire D1.
Go do a Baal run and get frozen or poisoned so you can turn neon green or crayola blue in the bright orange room while killing Baal's minions but be sure to avoid the eye searingly bright Black Souls. Darkness everywhere! /sarcasm
Actually, the other interesting thing, DII Vanilla had dark dungeons, but the Xpac, act 5 had no dark dungeons. It's almost as though Blizzard realized something back then.
