    Re: How does Locust Swarm work exactly

    @z00t

    nice find, LS on your vid is way more better than the older one.
    The big one's survived the skill, i guess it confirms that an infected monster could only infect one more monster for the duration of the skill.

    The big Fallen are called 'Fallen Overseers' - it seems that in addition to emboldening the smaller Fallen, the Overseer's Warcry also removes debuffs, including Locust Swarm.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWUec1sdp3g <- this is a more recent video, but even this is kinda out of date, since it was from a time when Locust Swarm could initially infect more than 1 enemy :P.

    Also worth noting is the fact that Locust Swarm doesn't leave only the bones of the Fallen, which makes me a sad panda T_T.
    Is it just me or does Locust Swarm seem to have a very short range? The WD goes in meele range before each cast O.o

    Yeah, Locust Swarm is pretty short range from what I understand, (I haven't been fortunate with getting a beta key, so I'm basing on what I've seen in skill videos) which follows how most of the skills that were under the old Vermin passive functioned. Firebats unruned for range is also fairly short, and frogs is somewhat short range also.

    Firebats extends to approximately 25 to 35 yards. It looks shorter on the videos. When you use it, it doesn't feel short.

    Additionally, Plague of Toads extends all the way the the edge of the screen (40 to 50 yards), so I have no idea what you're talking about.

    The longest range skills in the Beta right now are Poison Dart, Haunt, and Dire Bats. Haunt and Dire Bats have the same range, while Poison Dart can shoot at off-screen targets in all directions, except targets which are directly at one of the corners of the screen. At that point, the dart will just disappear as if it hit something.

    Hmm....this is why I'd love to have a beta key, so I don't make stupid statements like this.

    I was thinking PoT worked sort of like Charged bolt, since it moves slow and sort of spreads out more after a while. Looking at videos again, it does travel a bit farther than I first thought. The firebats range I'd have a better idea of if I actually used the skill, as I have no idea on the actual "feel" for how the skill plays without any runes placed.

    I think when Charged Bolt was renamed to Shock Pulse (or maybe after that) they redesigned it. Now it's a fairly short ranged attack, but the 3 charges move really fast. Plague of Toads is much closer to the Charged Bolt spell from D1 now.

    Yeah, Firebats have to be used to get a feel for its range. The animation doesn't show it well either. It's range is about 35 yards, same as Vault. You can find pictures of how long that is in this thread: http://diablo.incgamers.com/forums/s...-Screen-Length

    That's a pretty nice range thread. I'll have to keep that in mind when I do finally get my hands on a copy of some kind, whether its a super-late round of beta invites or the actual game in a month.

    I remember having to memorize weapon and skill ranges when I PvPed a lot in Diablo 2, especially when I played a throwing barb. Good to see I'll be able to potentially relive some of those glory days of offscreen non-guided weapon / spell kills when PvP finally does get finished.
