Nope. Not tied to the sheet. I restructured the data a bit and added some dimensions so things could be sorted by skill category (and in the future, if their ratings seem to favor particular aspects of skills like cooldowns).
I'll just keep grabbing the scores as people input them from the sheet that Capt Goodman created and shared.
I put a link to your page in the OP.
I've requested a thread a name change that makes more sense now that the thread has moved way past its original expectations, haha. Hopefully it will draw a few more people in.
So after a bit more input, Sprint is still the lowest rated skill, now tied with Horrify. Multishot is still the highest rated skill with just a tiny lead over Seven Sided Strike.
Also, as a general observation, I find it pretty weird that so many of us, presumably the game's biggest fans, would be handing out overall ratings of below 3. I'll be very curious to see if that trend continues.
And finally - I'm still mad at Apoc for giving dashing strike a 1. WTF. :P
I'll just rate them in order of best to worst imo and explain why.
1-Wizard: Notably challenging reworked play style with a power thirsty attitude that embodies Diablo players' mindset.
2-Barbarian: Looks and sounds great and has a well developed back story.
3-Witch Doctor: Complete weirdos are good for the game.
4-Monk: Unfortunately, I can't see what he's doing, flashy flash flash-flash.
5-Demon Hunter: Angry goth kid from South Park with glow sticks. Barb already does the revenge thing--only better. Hatred and Fury are conceptually the same thing.
Cool.
It seems that it got truncated, though, so it's broken at the moment. Following this link and copying the url from the address bar would fix it.

Hey guys, this is looking awesome. I just got beta access and have been playing all the characters to fill in my own input. If you wouldn't mind, please don't reorganize that first sheet, because it throws off all of the charts on the subsequent pages. I'll work on another sheet to be able to quickly determine the best and worst skills so we can do some quick analysis. As you can see right this second the main sheet has thrown off all the subsequent ones. Working to fix that now.
Edit: Problem fixed. I added a new tab which shows the top and bottom 3 ranked skills, I'll update the data for that whenever there is more input added.

At release day, I am going to look at Varquynne's data analysis. I am going to jot down the least popular skill in each category for each class. My second 5 character slots will be dedicated to characters whose builds will use only those skills the instant they become available. (My first 5 slots will be characters I intend to enjoy). Once a given skill comes up, I pick it for that category and never switch it out again. They will be Hardcore characters. The goal will be to complete inferno.
That will probably take awhile...and I will likely give up.
Ugh that means I'd have to pick energy twister and explosive blast... :(
Anyone else up for that challenge? Seems like it'll be pretty difficult!
I like the idea of this and when Elly sent me a link to the online spreadsheet a few days ago, I instantly poked all around it. I enjoy stats and quick comparisons of a numerical type.
Obviously this is a casual thing and we're not going to get into debates over methodology, but if I filled out one of these lists I'd have a lot of "NA" entries. Many skills we haven't gotten to test at all, and even those we have, the base skills are fairly irrelevant, since it's all about the rune effects. And we've tried even fewer of those, with no more than 1 or 2 per skill available in the beta. So what are you guys rating?
Seriously, literally... what are you ranking? I guess that's a different answer for everyone, but it's mostly kind of a "how cool I think X will be," right?
I do think something like this could be very cool for the final game, once we actually get to try out all the skills and rune effects. People could create such spreadsheets for every class, and list all of the rune effects for individual ratings, with a request that you not vote on any you haven't actually tested out yourself. That would make for some interesting data crunching; what is the most/least popular skill per class? the most/least popular rune effect? I'm sure there would be oddities too; some skill that 4 of the rune effects are loved and one hated, etc.
If we only liked/dislike the things in D3 we'd actually tested, these forums would've been dead for the past 4 years and you could shut them all down except the Beta forum.![]()
For me, it was pretty much an 'overall' ranking for each skill that factored in just about everything. Does the skill seem fun to use? Does it have cool visual effects? Is it something that I would make me want to play that class? Do other skills already do something very similar; is it redundant? Do the runes add a lot of nice variety to it or do they just nudge the stats around a bit boringly? Do I like the theme of the skill?
I didn't factor in balance or usefulness very much since that can easily change, although I did penalize skills I thought were significantly weak compared to others like it. Some skills I rated as 1 or 2 I would still actually use, but I rated lower because they were essentially passives in disguise. This applies mostly to the long-term buffing skills.
