I'm going to say 12 days. I think it might be possible to beat it fairly quickly if multiple people 'team up' to play and feed one character the best items they have so that that character can complete Inferno faster than any other one would be able to do on their own.

Which brings me to another subject;

If D3 is "skill" based and you can kite and avoid stuff without proper gear or being the suggested level (Like PoE), then it'll be cleared quickly by skilled players with time. If D3 is "gear" based and you get one hit by unavoidable damage, then the combat is probably pretty shallow, and you'll need to farm / $$$$$$$$$$$$ gear to get anywhere. And since Blizz likes $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$, my bet is on that one.

So, probably longer than a week.

Pretty much this. If Inferno is designed strictly as a gear check, it could takes weeks or even months. If Diablo 3 rewards skillful play and teamwork without hard gear requirements to progress, it will take 3-4 days.

What I'm hoping for is that Inferno takes skillful play AND the hardest of gear requirements, because even with the best gear, Act IV Inferno will still wtfpwn you unless it has your full attention. At least, that's what I expect/hope. :|
