Banning IPs would be insane and hit a lot of innocent people.
And probably not very effective against the goldsellers & cheaters either.
Sadly the goldseller companies wont be banned anymore, as RMAH is legalizing them.
P.S. Blizzard has said repeatedly that you can use any regional RMAH you might want to use. Only requires you to play on that specific regional server. Which means Asians can play in US, and vice versa.
of course not. the entire point of designing games with open systems isn't "how do we improve or make the best game possible?". it's "how can i design a game to sell players endless sh#t after the initial purchase?". obviously, you can see why the entire industry is batty over open systems.
When I first heard about the RMAH I had somewhat mixed feelings about it. I have tried to be open about it and take in what I have read on these boards and Actiblizz's explanations. It seems to me one of the most important things in the success of the game and the RMAH is preventing duping and how rare truly good rolls are. Anybody that has played D2 alot and crafted/ran areas or bosses can attest to how hard a good rare is to find or how rare a good craft is. I have crafted at least 4-500 caster amulets and not a single one was anything near what I wanted. I have checked countless rare helms, armor, boots, etc. and most of them were garbage with the exception of a few pairs of boots the were usable. Rare rings and amulets seemed to deliver a little better results, for me anyway.
The way I see it is that Actiblizz has to make money to keep supporting the game, plain and simple. Would you rather pay a monthly subscription fee?
Oh, sure. My point was just that nothing is likely to stop you from playing D3 from China without VPN either.
1) Diablo 2 and Starcraft 2, both old and new games, are running and supported without any extra income, so apparently it can work for them. Secondly, Blizzard has hinted that we should not expect extra content patching for Diablo 3 due to any extra RMAH income, which at least could have justified the RMAH a little (but not really).
2) Yes I would. If I could choose to pay a reasonable price for frequent new content to Diablo 3, I doubt I would think twice about it.

So if anyone is still worried that gold farmers will take all your money...you're dead wrong. It's not going to be worth it to setup people farming items in D3, everyone will be doing the same which will already bring down the price of items making it less worthwhile for gold farmers. There are several other games out there that will get them more money.
Besides that, hiding your real location with VPN and all isn't a problem, you can have 100 computers running 100 different accounts in one location and make them all look like they're on 100 completely different locations but what are they going to do with all the money obtained on those 100 accounts? They still have to get the money off of those accounts into a bank account and that's where Blizzard needs to put some serious limitations.
I realize nobody ever paid a dime to blizzard to play D2 on the battlenet servers and I was not aware of SC2 not having a fee as I have never played it. But, it stands to reason with a game like D3 that has taken awhile to get out, Blizz would have to recoup some of the money they have put into it beyond what they make back in box sales. I have never read anything saying future expacs would not benefit in some way from RMAH profits. It's possible that I missed it, but I would think a profitable RMAH would have a positive influence on the game. I wouldn't mind paying a monthly subscription to play D3, that's not a big deal to me, and has never been the reason I didn't het into WOW.
I just really hope that the RMAH does not ruIn a game that myself and a whole hell of alot of people have been waiting a long time to play. I am not against it as I like having the option to buy something I want in a safe and secure way. I prefer to find my own gear, just as I have with everything in D2, but i am not ruling out ever using the RMAH. I can see the longevity suffering as most people will not grind months for something they can spend a few bucks to get right away. This kind of goes with the path of least resistance thing. But I am sure there are alot of people like me that just like to play and find items. I am finishing a few characters in D2 now, but I still enjoy MF runs even though I have no use for any of the stuff I am finding.
i just skimmed through this but one thing i noticed that no one seemed to mention is that you CANNOT take money from ur account, you could me like 1000$ and do nothing with it but use in in the AH, you CANNOT take money you make outa the game,
to repeat you can't take the money you make from ur battle.net balance this thread is completely pointless
