    Thoughts

This isn't a very popular build, and the guides and other pat/guardian threads didn't help very much, so I had to figure out stuff on my own. One thing that helped very much was the addition of frenzy to the build. Frenzy speeds up double throw greatly, and also provides a backup melee attack, not to mention the faster run walk. They also have a common synergy ( double swing). It's incredible!

I played him as a frenzy barb till level 44, used Death's mostly, then respeced to max throwing mastery to use deathbits. Nightmare was played mostly on p3 or p1, mainly due to the fact that deathbits are such lousy weapons ( Man they're bad ). Scalpers at 57 helped a bit, eth DAs available at level 68 ( sigh of relief ), warshrike, wraithflight and reapers at level 76 ( well into Hell ). Hell was mostly p3, Act 5 was on p1 because I just wanted to finish the game.

The damage output is quite strong, the major problem was ammunition conservation. I experimented around and came to the following strategy: One set non eth weapons ( so can be repaired), Use one set till it runs out. Then use the other ( wswitch is self replenishing ), and so on, ultimately both will run out though. Use frenzy often ( good damage with eth javelins ). Use lacerator to amp and then switch to eth javelins for more dmg and not having the annoying monster flee. Eventually, I could get it down to about 2 repair trips per area on the average, which was okay.

I'm surprised people don't do this build more often. It's quite good.

    Screenshots

Guess who turns up at Nihilithak's for the last 7 consecutive characters I've made..
Bugged frozen critters: The frozen dudes in the ice caves are bugged with double throw and cause the screen to go blank. Major pain towards the end of the game.

    Drops

Don't really remember anything specific, maybe one Guillame's face or something like that. Gul from hellforge though Payback time for all those Lems and Lums.

    Future plans: Pit runs maybe?

    Thanks for reading!

Three sept completion: 20 of 21.

Re: Patriarch Jayne Cobb: Double throw/Frenzy barbarian

Handy write-up I've tried them briefly before but as you say 'ammunition conservation' is a real PITA. Pairing it up with Frenzy seems like a good way around it, maybe I'll give the build a try again someday...

    OT: Firefly is awesome

That bug with the frozen critters isn't because of them, its because fortitude triggers the ice thingie when they breathe at you with their cold spell, which is constant. It happened to me too. Interesting read, ty for sharing.

Re: Patriarch Jayne Cobb: Double throw/Frenzy barbarian

When I made a throwbarb I made the mistake of not using frenzy. Would have made it a lot easier to reach those breakpoints. Oh well.

Congratz! Only one more to go!

Mal: "Are you offering me a trade?"
Jayne: "A trade!? Hell, it's theft! This is the best damn gun made by man. It has extreme sentimental value. It's miles more worthy than what you got."
Mal: "What I got? She has a name."
Jayne: "So does this!" (caresses the gun lovingly) "I call it Vera."
Mal: "Well, my days of taking you seriously are certainly coming to a middle."

Re: Patriarch Jayne Cobb: Double throw/Frenzy barbarian

Yes, frenzy is what makes the build work, which is surprising because not many used it before. There's also no other real place to throw 20 points into, AR is increase on double throw really isn't worth it.

ESD: Thanks. I wanted to rename one of the javelins as 'vera' but the game's 'personalization' is lame and doesn't allow you to properly name something. Nice memories.

A Thrower! Very uncommon build. Nice style bonus there. Grats on the Patriach, zaph!

A very stylish pat, I haven't found much info on throwers so I guess I'll just ask my questions here. How many attacks do you make using frenzy to increase the speed for your double throw? Is your attack sequence thus: melee with frenzy, move back, double throw? Thanks!

Yea, it's pretty much that. I don't know how many strikes exactly it takes to charge up though.
I'd been thinking of making a video so I made one. Gaa! It's really bad. I didn't know that fraps stops recording after 30 sec and was to lazy to make another one so.. . ( My first video.. )

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-t1_FQId-pE

I forgot to turn it down from p8, that's why it takes long to kill stuff
