I agree with the Insanity comments. But there are a lot of people who aren't going to min-max that much. Thrive on Chaos presents an additional mini game that one can play on top of normal kill routine. Folks appreciate it for that extra, esoteric reward, no matter if it is good or not.

I didn't remember this build had the shout too, sometimes people don't select any way to spend fury in these builds. You are right, in any case playing to maximize fury efficiency will be good no matter how the rune works. Mark of good design I guess![]()
Hmm you are right actually, there isn't a shout in that build. But, there is Berserker Rage which is dependent on having full Rage.

I really like the idea of permanent WotB.
If you're in combat for the full duration of WotB and manage to maintain it, it's a 37.5% increase in damage compared to the 21.875% average increase that Insanity gives you, or 29.166...% with BoBK. For constant fighting Thrive on Chaos is strictly better than Insanity. Insanity is great for burst though (PvP). I thought this was pretty obvious without even doing that math, so I don't know how anyone could think Insanity would be better all-around, let alone considering the huge defensive bonus ToC gives. However, Insanity obviously doesn't need to you have weird builds to maintain the fury generation that ToC needs.
Or does ToC even need weird builds? Mighty Weapons and Axes have a base 1.3 APS. Daggers have 1.5! Dual-wielding daggers with WotB up means you have minimum 2.1 APS. With Instigation, that's 25.2 Fury/s with absolutely nothing else in your whole build. Obviously you don't really want to be a wimpy Barb DW'ing Daggers, so Mighty Weapons with some %IAS and a passive Fury generator like Weapons Master would be far more Fury than you would need to sustain WotB. However, we also don't want to just be doing nothing but pressing Bash all the time, that sounds like a pretty boring Barb. If you're using Weapons Master, then using an AoE spender that casts at the same speed your MH will actually generate enough Fury/s to maintain WotB.
Anyway, my point is, Instigation + fast weapons would mean a lot more creativity than the standard Momentum + Into the Fray + Best Served Cold build that always comes to mind. Channeled spells are probably still out though :P
Now that that's out of the way, I'd like some thoughts/critiques/alternatives to what I've planned for 60:
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculato...XVP!Zec!YYbcZc
It needs some caveats though:
- It's built around destroying 1 or 2 monsters at a time and being able to go toe-to-toe with them using Revenge and the permanent 20% dodge because...
- I'll be duo'ing with a wizard who goes ape**** on AoE all the time, so I'm hoping that Revenge is enough AoE to get by with the Wizard support
Thoughts on skill/passive choices:
- Superstition could be replaced with something else defensively-oriented like Nerves of Steel or HP regen, but the Fury gen. and ranged/spell reduction—the bane of all melee classes—is very appealing to me
- I will never have a build without both Leap and Ancient Spear because they're just too awesome. Runes on these are entirely subjective: Feel free to suggest something better
- I'm hoping Revenge + Dread Spear is enough healing
- I'd love to use Marauder's Rage and Provocation over Into the Fray and Best Served Cold, but I think that'll come down to how it actually plays out
- Ruthless could easily be swapped out for something more defensive or Brawler
- Is there a more fitting AoE than Revenge? And how would you compensate in the defensive/healing department to make up for it?
There seem to be some contradictory abilities in your build imo.
If you want to rely on Revenge a lot to do some AOE damage then you want to get hit a lot, thus you want to have big damage mitigation (none of your skills add to armor), avoid having dodge (WotB provides a large bonus to dodge), avoid stunning or otherwise decreasing enemies attack (you have runed Leap to stun enemies) and possibly have a way to lower enemies melee damage (Superstition partly does this by lowering elemental damage).
I would drop Revenge in favor of Overpower's Killing Spree, jump in with Leap, Overpower them to increase critical hit chance and possibly lower it's cooldown by a few seconds.
I also don't really see the point of Ancient Spear much in your build, it seems too situational and useless 99% of the time, unless in PvP i think. I would instead use something that either generally helps your survivibility or your offense. For example War Cry or Threatening Shout (if you pick the taunting enemies rune effect, then i would consider revenge again) or a good offensive Fury Spender because i also don't really think it's a good idea to omit spending fury just to be able to atain Berserker Rage's bonus 100% of the time. I'm not too sure about Bash either, it knocks away monsters and with the vastly increased speed you're going to have that might create situations where you're just punching air half of the time.
So anyways, personally i would change a lot, which is ofcourse a good sign about the potential diversity of builds in this game. Will be interesting to see what works and what doesn't.
If the goal is to keep the WotB up constantly then there is no excuse to not pick up a weapon throw and rune it to dread bomb. You need close to that 25 fury per sec if you want to keep WotB rolling.
Scrap berserker's rage from the build and replace it with something else. If you are generating 25+ fury per sec then it's a must to also spend it or you are putting huge effort for minimal gains. Berserker's rage doesn't care whenever your fury over flooding is 1 or 25 fury per sec. It's always only that flat 25% damage. Replace it with animosity or no escape and throw 400%+ weapon throw nuke in the mix every couple of seconds.
Excellent feedback.
I switched out Ground Stomp for Threatening Shout with Demoralize rune. It is better to have many monsters attack me with weaker attacks then to stun them. I want to trigger Revenge as often as possible.
I switched the rune for Revenge to gain Fury.
I took out Overpower and put in Weapon Throw with Dread Bomb rune instead.
I switched passive Berserkers Rage to Animosity instead for more Fury gain.

I'm kind surprised you don't have Furious Charger: Merciless Assault in your build. It adds 15 rage with a cooldown from 0-10 seconds. In most beta combat you could average 30-45 rage within 20 seconds just from this skill. Not including frenzy hits, stomps, leaps, and etc..
Here's my auto attack barb that you could slightly adjust and make a nice fury thrive on chaos barb.

It's a solid build, but I'm worried abotu healing on bossfights. I could switch out Unforgiving passive for Bloodthirst, Inspiring Presence, or rune Warcry with Invigorate.
