Clicking is clearly superior to holding down the button...sometimes at least!

Edit: Also I don't really think the comic strip is funny.

Oh there are definitely times where it makes more sense, but I've seen some players constantly click on a single mob to spam the same attack over and over again regularly. It makes no sense to me to wear out your mouse (and your joints) in this manner.
