Looks like we got hit with the nerf bat again, mantra costs increased to 50 spirit (up from 25; which was up from 0). It now officially costs an entire spirit globe to use a mantra in conjunction with Wave of Light.
This is getting a bit excessive, in my opinion.
well they last 3 minutes ; i think its not unreasonable for a mantra ; though i have to say that rage spender seem by far stronger than the monks spirit spender ;
also they are no opportunity based skills like overpower and revange :/ ; i suppose monk will be a better group player if he chooses the right skills though i rather begin a barb as it is right now ;
my biggest gripe is the combo system of the monk ; when it first was announced i was really intruiged ; though its actually not deep or engaging at all; its just like the stages are always like ; 1x 1x 2,5x whereas the barbarian is like 1,5 all the time.
it just does not live up to my expactations and i just dont feel like the combo system serves a purpose currently ; it just seems to be in the game because they settled on the concept.
that being said ; the spirit cost for a 3 minute buff do not really concern me ; it kinda trivializes the shorttime buff , which was a dumb decision from blizzard but the base buff still seems well worth 50 spirit
I completely understand the increased Spirit cost of Mantras, although I think 50 is a bit too much. Even with the old 25 Spirit cost you could spam one for the doubled bonus, while you were spamming a Spirit generator.

It's just to use a mantra, and the only benefit of that is the silly brief buff, which I only see actually being utilized in coordinated Inferno runs.
Really, Way of the Hundred Fists spamming should take care of any spirit problems. If you're using anything with spirit regeneration on it, such as a set bonus or item modifier, you could easily fill your spirit up between fights just walking around, and have instant access to a Mantra.
Well it is a big deal, I am far from casual and the implications of just 5 spirit are rather large as you extrapolate across extended periods of time. As you said though it is JUST a mantra, the spirit cost should not be anywhere near that high
They must cost something and 5 Spirit isn't enough. Mantra of Healing would then become almost an active heal and Mantra of Retribution would be an 80% damage reflection, that you could keep up indefinitely. The previous 25 Spirit cost was almost perfect if you ask me, but I agree, that the current 50 is too high.
I'd be fine with the spirit cost increase if the range was increased to at least 30 yards. They are probably just finding out that a monk in skilled hands wearing end game gear will have the highest sustained dps out of all classes.
50 is fine i think, the mantras do have significant buff to them and the whole party.
That and coupled with Chant of Resonance (extra 7 minutes 2 spirit per second) 50 spirit is next to nothing.
i want to know if circular breathing with chant of resonance (5 spirit per second) is viable to use only one generator.
yeah for 3 min 50 spirit are ok ; but casting a mantra outside of those 3 minutes for the shortterm buff sounds ridiculous too me.
i mean lets be honest they are not that great ; in comparison to what else you could do with that 50 spirit ; and given that you already have about 50% of such a mantra bonus already turned on.
and to the previous poster ; yes you could constantly keep up the shortterm buff ; but WTF thats an horrific waste of spirit and cast time. thats about as useful as frostnova with 1 sec cd and 0.5 sec duration and 20 ap cost.
that being said ; i think they should either reduce the spirit cost again or implement some gameplay - relevant effects to the activation effects of the mantra ; that truly matter.
