i cant imagine ever playing without EM but if i had to i am positive i could make good builds still.
If you go to the Blizz skill calc and hit the chat gem at the bottom, it'll create a randomized, no-EM build. When I do it, I find that most of those randomized builds are actually pretty reasonable looking (minus the passives) which definitely wasn't true before this non-EM stuff. And I expect they'll get better as they fiddle around with the best way to group skills. Not saying I'm a fan but still, the idea they're going for is broadly reasonable builds and i think they are mostly succeeding.
I completely understand that the non-EM mode it is (or seems to be) an hindrance for a seasoned player, that is the whole point: add another layer of challenge, no matter how insignificant you think it is.
I'm surprised no one is even considering going non-EM just for Normal.
Am I alone here?!
I just think there are much more interesting ways to add extra challenge, especially since non-EM builds shouldn't be (if Blizz does their job right) "bad" builds.
He's just saying: "Hey, I'm a spam bot would you mind banning me from these forums?"
I play with elective mode on, buy my builds tend to follow the structure laid out anyway. The only exception I can think of at beta level is I use leap on my barbarian's "tactics" button instead of defense. I think it makes more sense there.
Seems like some bots made it on the forums... Personally i tried EM and found it annoying but.mostly.because of the horrible skill.UI...
That brings up something I've thought most stupid about the EM; skills with rune effects that totally change their function. Sleet Storm, for instance, turns the offensive attack Ray of Frost into a defensive skill. So logically, shouldn't that rune re-sort the skill into the appropriate defensive category? There are runes in other skills that change defensive ones to offensive, or otherwise reshift the categorization. Thus it seems that EM will be nonsensical at high levels, with numerous rune effects that totally invalidate the preset categories.
