Question about Diablo 2's dev. team

Greetings, according to wiki Stieg Hedlund was one of the lead game designers, who was greatly credited for his work on both Diablo and Diablo 2, but what exactly was his role as a designer?With what exactly did he contributed to the creation of both games?

I don't know but you may find out in an up-coming book on Condor / Blizzard North being written by author David L. Craddock. The publisher's website features a few short interviews with some of the makers of Diablo 1 & 2:
