Well, since my first sorceress was fire/cold with emphasis on fire ( meteorb ), and the second was cold/lightning with emphasis on cold ( blizznova ), it only seemed fitting that my third should be a lightning/fire sorc with emphasis on lightning. Also, I was determined to make a 200 fcr sorc, to see what the hoopla was about. Thus presenting Moiriane the lightning/firewall sorc ( 17th Mat/Pat ).

-Teleporting at 200 fcr is teh most amazing thing ever
-Amazing sparkly elemental damage in areas with no lite immunes
-Firewall was very cumbersome. My earlier experience with its firewall had been with a Trang's necro but I had bone prison then to lock them in place while they got roasted. Here all the monsters were moving in and out of the firewall. Aargh.
-Thought about using marrowalk for bone prison charges but decided not to.
-Everyone should have a 200 fcr sorc. Seriously.
-Hate the fragility of vita sorcs. Even with CtA.
-Frozen river spawned witches, gloams and abhominations. Brought new meaning to the word 'Hell'.
-Tomb vipers in Nihilithak, even after rerolling three times. Eventually went ahead with it anyway, constant merc resurrections
-Didn't die in hell, that's pretty normal nowadays. One death in nightmare.

Fighting Ancients. It was an easy fight. Just teleport static static teleport lightning lightning teleport two of them down, third was up to firewall and the moron tanking.

When you mentioned your fire necro having easy time locking monsters with bone prisons, my first thought was exactly Marrowalks. Why didn't you give them a try then?
I must say I love 200FCR sorcs, too bad they require absolute gear dedication in vanilla.
200 fcr is where it's at for lite sorcs. They're just SO cool and fun. Once you get infinity it will feel like every other build in the game kills too slowly, and doesn't travel fast enough
Congrats! Once you're pure lite, it'll be even better. Especially since firewall was kind of frustrating for you.

Lite sorcs are very strong I know. Even at the moment she is my fastest Baal runner, mainly due to the fact that she can get there really quickly.
Congrats on your Mat! Wow, 200% FCR? The most I had was 117% FCR. The lighting skill must be quick!
Sorry you were having problems with Fire Wall. Did you use teleport to reposition the monsters and your merc before you cast Fire Wall? I never had much problem with monsters staying in the Fire Wall when that was done. Maybe a few monsters would go in and out but that was it. It sounds like most of them were going in and out of your Fire Wall. Maybe you just cast it when your merc was fighting a few monsters? Well this is what I do:
1) Teleport backwards or to the side.
2) Wait and let my merc charge forward.
3) The melee monsters attack my merc and crowd around him.
4) Cast Fire Wall and watch them burn baby burn. Maybe a couple leave but that's it.
5) Repeat

Yes, I was trying out things of that sort. The thing is, it doesn't work that way at all.
I don't use firewall against anything that is not lightning immune. And it seems like all the lite immunes are erratically behaving or moving creatures, like gloombats, gloams, dark archers, finger mages. It is difficult to let make stay in the firewall.
I don't have any problem with melee monsters. Most get smoked by lightning long before my merc gets to them, and the ones that don't, I rather prefer the merc not to come anywhere near them. Lister pack on p3 can own my merc pretty easily if I don't keep teleporting him out of danger.
Suicide Branch is another option. It even provides a +skill, but only 10% resists which is utterly low compared to wizzy. Even then, you lose 2 skills compared to HotO or unique orbs, but that is the price for going extreme. If Eschuta's came with 45% FCR instead of 40%, it would balance it out with the other orbs (the %damage is almost worthless on a sorc-only item as it is added to the mastery).
Instead, Blizzard came with 'Spirit', which basically ruined the balance for the sorceress class. In vanilla, you have to set priorities and make compromises, which makes the game more attractive for me.
