So the previous blog posts I posted about doing a sept got boring because I lost interest in the variety of characters and how they were designed. This sept requires a much stricter design and build for each character. ROTK (Romance of the Three Kingdoms) is a book that chronicles the three kingdoms period in China. It is historical fiction. I have selected the characters for my sept from the people mentioned in the book. It will be done in 1.13c SC with RWM. The characters are all untwinked from the beginning but can trade with each other items they've found via Gomule. The introduction for the characters follow.
Amazon: Zhu Rong. This girl specializes in the three fire arrows and can summon her own companion (Valk) because of her relation to the fire god. She was married to Meng Huo and is mentioned going into battle when Shu tried to take over the southwest. She will have a Barbarian Merc (to symbolize Meng Huo)
Assassin: Diao Chan: She is a dancer (kicker) who can also trap. She restored the East Han dynasty for a little while by her skilled separation of Dong Zhuo and Lu Bu. She will also get COS and Mind Blast because she got those two into fighting each other for her beauty. Unfortunately she has no companion (SW, SM) but will get a merc (act II) for assistance. The merc (who symbolizes Lu Bu) will only be allowed to use a halberd and exceptional/ elite versions of that weapon. In the book she marries Lu Bu.
Necromancer: Zuo Ci: This magician tricked Cao Cao when he first appeared before him and had powers of necromancy in resurrecting sheep that were decapitated by the general that Cao Cao sent after him. Thus, he will use revives and curses that confuse and weaken his enemies. He was also one of the causes of Cao Cao’s death according to the book. He will not have a merc in his adventures.
Barbarian: Lu Bu was the most feared fighter in the period before the three kingdoms. He will use a halberd (His fame came from the weapon he used) and will have points in increased speed (to symbolize his horse) His skills will consist of whirlwind with berserk as backup. Since enemies feared his strength and presence so, he will also only use Battle Cry and War Cry, along with Howl and Taunt, in the warcries section. He will have a rogue mercenary (to symbolize Diao Chan) He takes Diao Chan for his wife.
Paladin: Cao Cao, who is conveniently one of my ancestors in the family tree, was the man who started the Wei kingdom and had control of the country in the north. He will be a Frost Zealot for his zeal to take over the entire country and his coldness when dealing with enemies who do not submit to him. He is only allowed to use one handed swords and a shield ( to symbolize his prized sword, the Split Sky Sword). He is allowed to use any mercenary he wants because he was such a great recruiter.
Druid: Xu Zhu was the prized bodyguard of Cao Cao and most feared fighter in Wei. His strength and power led him to win many one-on-one duels. He will be a Werebear with powers in all the werebear skills along with another bear as his sidekick (to symbolize Dian Wei- his friend and other famed bodyguard of Cao Cao). He will also not have a mercenary.
Sorceress: The only girl who could match Zhuge Liang in wit and intelligence was Yue Ying. She was known as a girl who was ugly, but very intelligent. Zhuge Liang was smitten with her from the time that he heard about her intelligence and he married her. She will be a lightning/cold sorc with a Act III merc( to symbolize Zhuge Liang).
This project should probably take me a while to complete. Spring Break begins next week, thank goodness, so I will have time to get a lot of work done on these characters.
Well, Diao Chan has begun her adventure through Sanctuary. The item gods were kind to her and bestowed a bunch of rares. She has 4 four chipped topazes, two in skull cap, two in hard leather armor. Then Charsi sold her a three socket ring mail. Nothing much of interest so far. Blood Raven dropped like Andariel in two chipped gems, a yellow small shield (all resist +5) and two blue items. She's resting now in the Encampment before she heads out to the Stony Field. I used Blade Sentinel pretty much throughout until I got into level 12 and put a point into Wake of Fire.
Well, Xu Zhu has begun his adventure as well. topaz luck with him was sad for a while until stony field, where three dropped consecutively. His weapon in use currently is a large axe with two chipped emeralds and one chipped sapphire in the sockets. He has a bunch of rare to donate as well as a short staff with +3 Static Field, +1 Warmth and +1 Frozen Armor. He is ignoring the attempts at conversation by Cain in the rogue encampment, having just rescued him. Of Note: A monster shrine in the Den of Evil generated an LE zombie (Sin Killer), who took a while to kill by throwing knife (not wanting to get close to the bolts).
Some will start when I find the appropriate item. (see Barb).
I'm starting with the easiest to play for now and the builds that I haven't tried yet, (werebear is one of them).
Today the Amazon starts (when I wake up), as the Druid found her a bow with cold damage poison damage, and 5% chance to cast amp damage. I'll also get the Assassin to Act II. Anyone know when halberds start showing up on the gamble screen?
Zhu Rong has begun her journey. She's had pretty bad luck so far. three chipped topazes in a skull cap and hard leather armor. She took 10 min to beat Blood Raven with her bow versus Blood Raven's lightning enchanted bow. She did find a pretty decent sword to start off the frost zealot. He'll be started a little bit later. Find of Note : A ethereal Pelta Lunata Buckler from Corpsefire. That will go with the Act III merc for the sorceress probably. She's had very few rares drop.
Cao Cao has begun his tour. He is level 12 and has a point in zeal so far. He is enjoying the sword that Zhu Rong found him. He also has his merc, Fiona, acquired via a 20 min battle against a CE Blood Raven. He needs resist charms to preserve his sanity from not running away from LE monsters.
Zuo Ci has begun his journey as well. He is now level 15 and getting advice from Cain on how to deal with a young girl. After he beat Blood Raven Kashya came to him and practically begged him to take a rogue off of her hands that was becoming corrupted by the evil. He accepted her offer and Annor the cold rogue followed him through the Crypt, Masoleum, Stony Field, Underground Passage, Dark Wood, and Tristram. She doesn't really talk, but is deathly accurate with her bow (killed an LE carver with one arrow). He thinks he'll probably keep her by his side as insurance for the long journey ahead. The going for him has been tough. He beat demons and used curses to make them easier to kill with his wand until a club dropped. He cleared half the cold plains until a set of crude javelins dropped. Then he started finding some better weapons in the form of javelins which were used for Coldcrow. He bought a three socketed large axe from Charsi and put a chipped sapphire, chipped ruby, and chipped emerald in it to increase his damage. Now he kills pretty easily for the most part. Notable finds include a flawed topaz (via a gem shrine in the Den of Evil). He has four topazes, two in a skull cap and the other two in hard leather armor.
Diao Chan continued her journey and is now level 16. She's chatting with Akara about how to improve mana recovery. Nothing has been difficult so far for her with two points in Wake of Fire, two points in CB sentry, and two points in CoS. The Countess dropped her two Nefs. Halfway to a Smoke! Next stop for her will be the Tamoe Highlands.
Yue Ying has also started her way. She ran around with four chipped topazes found early. No noticeable drops except the javelins she's been throwing at both undead and demons. She will be using both lightning and Frozen orb to kill her enemies.
+1 cold damage
+6 poison damage over 3 secs
+1 max damage
+1-3 fire damage
+71% damage to undead
+46 AR against undead
