I think D3 will be a longer game than D2 in general (despite the developers saying otherwise) but it seems like D3 has a higher density of superuniques too.
Diablo 3 Beta SUs:
9 total.
1. Sarkoth (Dark Cellar)
2. Wretched Queen
3. Captain Daltyn (I know the spelling is supposed to be old tymey but it reminds me of a yuppie soccer mom's kid)
4. Mira Eamon
5. Manglemaw
6. Lord Dunhyld <-- ghost woman quest
7. Chancellor Eamon <-- for the crown
8. Jondar, I mean JONDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR
9. Skeleton King
And that doesn't count easter eggs like the Data Miner or Lloigor the Crazed. Add those to the total if you want. My only minor complaint is that pretty much all of them but the Wretched Queen appear in dungeons. SUs in overworlds are fun. I think the Weeping Hollow could use one.
Diablo 2 Act 1 SUs:
14 total.
1. Corpsefire
2. Bishibosh
3. Bonebreaker
4. Coldcrow
5. Blood Raven
6. Rakanishu
7. Treehead Woodfist
8. Griswold
9. The Countess
10. Flamespike the Crawler -- removed in LOD but I'll count him anyway.
11. Pitspawn Fouldog
12. Bone Ash
13. The Smith
14. Andariel

Good idea - the ratio is pretty heartening.![]()
Not bad from one third of an Act.![]()
Does it make up for how little non-superunique masters randomly spawn?
I don't find.

I can say personally I have fought against 2 superunique randoms in the world. One in the Weeping Hollow surprisingly, probably level 8? It was difficult for a Lv8 Barb.. and the other was in the next zone, Fields of Misery, and encountered one that was a huge tree. I don't recall either names xP
I'd be interested to see someone do this for individual monster types (ie. Fallen, Grotesques, ect). Anyone up for that once beta is back up?

D3 already wins and we know there are more yet to find.![]()
D3 A1 also has the quill fiend, bat nest, treasure goblin (he counts right?), the withermoth, wretched mother, and at least two different sorts of spider enemies (the small ones and the bigger ones). And there are two more monsters associated with cultists besides the dark demon: activated vessels and berserkers. I wonder when we'll first see the cultist pets in the real game.
So that bumps the D3 A1 monster total up to 31.
Somebody needs to get on that wiki update! Haha...thanks for the extra info, that's awesome!I don't remember spiders though? Where have you seen Spiders in Act 1?
