I mean come on 15%... that is like next to nothing. I know 25% can be too much, especially when teamed with bulked up barbarians but i think a 5% increase for a total of 20% dodge chance is pretty reasonable to me.
That 15% will get better as we progress through the game for two reasons.
1) Enemies will get stronger, which will increase the value of defensive stats.
2) You'll gain less and less Dodge per point of Dexterity as your Dex increases. See my last post in this thread if you want to see the current progression. I think it will be relatively easy to reach 1000 Dex, which is 30% Dodge, but if you want to increase your Dodge another 10% you'll need a 1000 extra Dex at that point, so Mantra of Evasion and other skill based bonuses will be the better choice in that case.
Hm, is the following correct ?
Since we will have multiple dodge sources for the monk, say you reached 50% dodge chance from dexterity only (in theory), wouldn't 15% dodge from mantra of evasion translate in 7.5% chance to dodge, since you got 50% chance to get hit.
Dodge bonuses from skills are additive with your dodge from dexterity. Otherwise these skills would be really useless. I don't know how two skill based bonuses interact with each other though.
They are not additive. Say, with 30% dodge from dexterity, a mantra of evasion and a mantra of evasion 3 second buff it would be:
(1-0.3) * 0.85 * 0.85 = 0.50575
1 - 0.50575 = 0.49425
=~49.4 dodge.
Thanks for the correction.
Don't forget that you'll also get that 5% increase or even more from the +skills items :P
bighandxyz: You seriously made that post just to say that? Why would you think I'd be activating the mantra all the time? The idea of the post was to show you the FORMULA of how it is calculated. There are plenty of skills to choose from when it comes to dodge.
