Hey all. I'm thinking about pushing all my artisan crafting towards gem making. Some other post talked about a perfect highest lvl gem costing like 1 million gold to craft. What do you guys think about this for $$ making? I'm not saying shoot for highest lvl right away, but I thought about focusing on like mid lvl gems until lvl 40+ then shooting for highest lvl at 60 and famring nothing but that.
Would that be to risky, to long to be worth it? What do you guys think?
Well, I think it'll be worth it for quite a while after release, maybe even several years. The thing is, gems from level 1-5 drop from world, the rest you must combine. By my calculations it takes 19683 level five gems to get one Radiant Star (level 14) gem. That is going to take a LOT of time, and first Radiant Stars will be worth a ****ton, if you ask me.
You find alot of info about Gems here,
http://www.diablo-guilds.com/forum/t...9-858-050-gold
And I think you can be right here, that Gems can be a great way to make Gold/money in D3.![]()
I would assume Blizzard will tweak the gems drop in order to keep a healthy balanced market, optimizing AH income
Low drop rate = seller market = overprice = low amount of transactions (= possibility of attemps of market manipulation by rich traders?)
High drop rate = buyer market = low price = low amount of transactions (gems being too easy to get ingame)
Wait so the cost associated with gems, only comes from combining them? hmm, if it's drop only, then I guess ill pick the scoundrel? I think he improves gem find last I checked.
Ermm...if i would tell here what i plan to do about gems, i will shot my self in the leg.
So, you plan on going ONLY after lvl 14 gems at lvl 60 and farming only that.Good luck man, but this is not the way to go if you plan making $$$ selling lvl 14 gems.
lol ya this was posted a LONG time ago, so my plans have changed. I still would like to eventually sell a max lvl gem because it's a permanent item. They can be removed from gear and such so you only need a certain number.
