Right on, i am 90's kid, grew up playing football and hiden'seek. After childhood was over, the only place where i see real cooperative teamwork is gaming, and gaming alone. No university, firm, workplace or any other institution (atleast where i live) aspire more teamwork then online rpg games![]()
Where there is a buyer, there will be a seller, always.
I sure hope it does revolutionises making money while playing a game. Id love to make a living playing this game cuz then i can stick my 2 fingers up at the tax man and my stupid government and still claim job seekers allowance LOL. If i play 15 hours a day everyday i should make 100 bucks a weeks surely? That my friends would be my dream job. BTW im a "no lifer". Friends are over rated, they just end up letting you down in the end. Oh BTW i plan on being on inferno within a week. The first week will be crazy, high prices, best time to grind and sell. First week of release=144 hours of diablo/24 hours of sleep. Inferno here i come.
Yeah, 100$ weekly seems pretty reasonable to me, that is if you intend to play a lot... like, 12-16 hours/day, every day.
Say what? I plan (endgame) making around $75/week to start and capping about $125/week and certainly not with 12-16 hours a day (I'm hoping maybe 4-8 hours/day). Mainly I'm gonna focus on one farming character (WD pet/caster) and mostly do Hell, only Inferno once I get really good. So in Hell I'ma try to push $75 mark with items and push the $125 with items/gems supplements.
I think the best source for income for people that will spend a lot of time on this game (+10 hours/day) will be crafting materials as they will be sure to get from all the useless blue/yellow items that will drop. I am wondering what will that sell for, does it sound reasonable say:
0.1:1 for blue crafting material resaulting in 10$ per 100 crafting material, and mb 0.5:1 for yellow ? Maybe unique crafting material will sell for 1:1 scale or even more ? Just my thoughts, would love to hear others btw.

I honestly don't see the pay off here. Saying you will work an additional 12hrs after your day job/school is a lofty idea and not really possible to accomplish without burning out. I would estimate that you can work 5 hrs in game every night on a consistent basis and not burn out. It just isn't worth my time as a replacement for income. However the fact that I have the chance to get something back for just playing the game is ****ing brilliant. I'm not looking to work while playing, but I am looking to optimize my play for monetary benefit. I think the most consistent payout with the least additional investment will come from the bottom of the food chain, gold. IF !!!! The current sinks are working as well as we hope.
As one of those D2C's elitists, I have the opposite view on what appears to be the Diablo 3 itemization. So long as items with 6 random modifiers are king, the best ones will(should) be extremely rare and can always be improved upon, even if only marginally. If items with set modifiers are the best, as they were in D2X, all hope is lost.
I can easily count the number of 180%+ enhanced damaged "best" exceptional weapons (Battle Hammer, Lance, Executioner Sword, Martel) I found over 10+ years of off and on (mostly on) D2C play. This is over hundreds of thousands of CS runs. This neglects secondary modifiers that make some a lot better than others. I suppose it all comes down to how rare the high-end modifiers on high-end equipment will be and whether random or set modifier items are the best.
Yah man — the people that hate on our community because they don't understand it. You could even say they "fear" it — the dreaded possibility of becoming a "no life" in peoples eyes. You might be called a nerd or whatever. Just like I don't understand other peoples communities fully — I give them respect.
Fact is, I work as a personal trainer for my 'day job' — I'm buff and stuff. People might think football, or MMA is my hobby on first glance. And while I do follow the UFC, I follow Blizzard more. I'll talk WOW, Starcraft, Wordpress and Blogging with you all day long!!
Our community fulfills most of our needs, competition, development, creation... protection from the elements. Hah. So I actually support gaming fully. But more importantly than just playing the game, is getting on the creation side of things. Develop a craft to contribute to the gaming community.
Artwork, graphics, story for actual development. Or observe, research, report for blogging etc. Get on the development side of the gaming industry and you'll have your cake and eat it too.![]()
