    If you care about skeleton's power, using hoto (+3) for raising is even worse idea, you better use leorik's wand (+5). It only takes 2x1 slot and can be held on switch or just in your inventory, a bit of waste but thats pvm anyways. Also, you only need it in the beginning of the game because skeletons almost never die.

    The word "excellent" does not fit this runeword, hoto is a kind of more powerful combination of wizardspike and leorik's, but is weaker than two separately.

    Given you already have enough +skills gear on you (say, +10), +3 more curses wont make much difference, so you are basically choosing from +3 corpse explosion/bone armor and a bit of extra fcr, allres and mana. Decision making begins there, and I would choose wizardspike if I havent already chosen Beast . I've come a long way developing my own build which meets my own playstyle, Im not saying my choice is mathematically better or anything (although I have tried hoto and many other possible gear combinations), thats just what I have ended with.

    We seem to have an irreconcilable difference of opinion.

    You don't mind wasting time and inventory space for +skills and do not see a benefit to +skills for curses & 1 point skills.

    I don't like having a cluttered inventory or spending time on any sort of prebuffing, nor taking up useful slots for fcr. I prefer less fiddling, more efficient mfing. It suits my play style; I can fill up a cleanish inventory twice in a chaos run because I'm looking for a much wider variety of items than most people.

    I wouldnt call spending 1 second to equip leorik's and then 1 more second to unequip it, a waste . Especially if you consider having more powerful skeletons helps you to kill things.
    Also I dont quite get the sentence about "useful slots for fcr" - my build always implies 125fcr and I dont use weapon slot for that, or I just overestimate beast's effect.

    The problem about mfing is that by the time you get leorik, hoto and all other stuff you dont need to actually mf, I never used to mf past 2-3 weeks of new ladder. Moreover, socketables are often quite more valuable and you might want to have as less mf as possible (like, 90 from enigma is enough).

    The extra str helps you equip spirit monarch which is great for casting BO.

    Well, I would prefer using other boots to shore up your needs rather than taking Marrowwalk chiefly because of its +2 SM. For example, why not cover some of resists/hp/fhr in boots + more +skill focused helm/ring/amu/etc, instead of Marrowwalk + said stats in said slots ?

    On another note, its popularity is trickling down largely from its now fixed synergy to bone skills, making a potentially +35 skill item instead of +2 skill we now have.
