Hi. This question got asked in a thread but I've not seen a proper answer to it yet, apologies if I missed it.
There is a cap on the Blizzard Bucks balance which effectively means a cap on the top limit that can be charged for an item on the RMAH - UNLESS stuff can be bought on the RMAH using paypal account instead without going through the Blizzard Balance first.
Anyone know if this is possible please?
If not what/how are people going to deal with those uber items "worth" more than the blizzard balance cap?
I think you can.
Blizzard hasn't given us any firm information on this. I don't think they've even hinted at it. Naturally, if items are worth more than the cap, some people will use third party sites, and other will just accept that $200 is the most an item can be worth.
I guess you could sell it for gold in that had a value in excess of the real money cap, then sell the gold in chunks.
Will they cap the maximum gold in a single GAH transaction, or for a single item?
That's a good question and agree with AKUder that they haven't answered it yet. Either that or Azzure and other others have missed the news since it hasn't been posted on this forum since day one.
TL;DR You can buy items from the RMAH with paypal directly.
Here's two Blizzard FAQ's that state this, one implicitly and one explicitly:
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/services/...nctionality#q5.
http://us.battle.net/support/en/arti...stions-faq#q13
So, players can make payment using a registered form of payment attached their battle.net account. As a US player, the payment methods I can set up are Paypal, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express.
Also a Bashiok reply to a twitter post indicates that $200 is not the limit: https://twitter.com/#!/Bashiok/statu...79991558766593.
Incidentally, the $200 (US) that we saw in the ToS seems to have been increased to $250: http://us.battle.net/support/en/arti...estions-faq#q4
I've been busy fact finding today, but it does appear to me that you will be able sell an item for more than $200 ($250) and will be able to purchase items with methods other than b.net balance. I'm not sure how blizzard will exactly handle this because as an auction house, you could list an item for $1.00 choose to have it go b.net balance and then have it bid up to over $250. Maybe you'll have to make the selection after the item sells? Maybe if you select b.net balance it will be limited to $250? Maybe you can have more than $250 there, but can't add your own funds there to be greater than $250? It will be interesting to see how that goes, but by and large seems like $200 ($250) will not be the max. In the FAQ it says a pop up will tell you if you're going to exceed your balance, but it doesn't talk about how that works with RMAH. Time will tell.
$250 for some pixels, no thanks, even if they are Diablo III pixels.
Apparently you're willing to pay $60 dollars for some pixels (and maybe a game manual if you don't digital download). I won't be the person spending $250, but there will be (are) people willing to do so.
