Cannot complete Act 5

I cannot seem to complete the quest to kill the guardians before slaying Baal in my nightmare playthrough. A higher level friend was helping me to complete the quest and I forgot to see the quest giver before heading to the summit to kill the guardians. When they were dead, the Baal quest was activated (as seen in the screenshot) and the quest told me I could not complete it.

This now happens each time I attempt to complete the quest, even if I return to the quest giver to accept the quest before leaving to do it. Is this because the Baal quest is activated? Is there any way around it?

Hi Deiley,

You have to be level 40 in nm and level 60 in hell to get the ancients quest.

You can however get the baal quest by remaining in town while someone else gets the quest and thereby go on to hell mode.
