Dual claws, venom, and poison facets??

I read a thread similar to this from 2004, but it did not contain the answers I'm looking for (and even if it did, I don't know if they would apply to 1.13d). Here goes...

I would like to try a novelty build using venom-enhanced dragon claw as a main source of damage. I would like to know how having one or more poison facets in each claw would affect venom's damage output.

Do both the +damage and -resist mods apply to venom? Do they apply only on the cast, or on the hit as well? Do facet bonuses from both claws apply to each strike, or only from the facet of the claw that hits? Do facet bonuses transfer to blade fury?

If anyone knows the answer to one or more of these questions, I would love to hear. Thanks all

Venom's interaction with +skills, enhanced poison skill damage, and reduced enemy poison resist works exactly like Enchant does.

    1. When you cast venom, all +skills and % enhanced poison skill damage are taken into account to get your venom damage.
    2. When you make a hit with venom, -enemy poison resist on you at that time is taken into account.
    3. If the attack was a melee attack and not ranged, venom applies % enhanced poison skill damage a second time multiplicatively. This is where the damage can increase greatly; with enough +skills and %epsd in the first cast and %epsd when you hit, you can get into the 5k+ range IIRC.

Thanks for the prompt replies. I remember reading a Topic about mods that do and don't work on offhand claws, and don't remember facet bonuses being mentioned. So it looks like I wouldn't be wasting facets by sticking them in both claws

I certainly won't forget trang's glove, but as someone who plays SP without RWM (or ohm/sur runes for that matter) I'm afraid bramble is out of my reach.

Yes facet damage applies to venom. But I do not think ww sins would even bother using poison facets at all. I see them making a fury/chaos wield which is mainly focused on physical damage. But the poison adds will still help a little bit.

I too would like to know if the -poison resist from both claws is calculated when striking.
If I have perfect facets on both claws, use dragon claw to attack my enemy, will both of my hits have -10% enemy poison resist, or will both only have -5%?
Same for the +% for poison damage really.
My brain thinks it should work like weapon ed% and other ed%, which would mean a facet in the claw would only affect that particular claw when attacking with them (obviously both are calculated when actually casting venom).

These are one of the few offensive mods that don't have that restriction, so the -res and +% skill damage on both weaps will apply when you hit with either of them.

Do you still have to have the item equipped for it to be applied a second time multiplicatively? That is, if I equip my trangs claw to cast venom then unequip them; will the % damage still apply on hit?
Essentially can I have my cake and eat it too when prebuffing venom with trangs and bramble. I've always suspected this is not the case but I'm inspired now with the courage to get some confirmation on this matter now.

The "on hit" multiplication step only takes into account % enhanced skill damage equipment worn while making the attack. You have to wear your trang's gloves and bramble to get the bonus a second time.
