Poorly coded css

The new changes to the site contain some poorly done css.

On a tablet computer, the site is microscopically small. The css (most likely) is the source. It's making the website about 5x larger than it actually is, so you have to zoom in to actually read anything. You could probably also see this effect on a pc by scrolling right to see it.

Small niggle, when you click Bold/Italic/Underline, the entire square goes black and looks a bit wrong - is this intentional?

Hovering over it is fine and gives a pale blue colour though.
