Your father was one? And you know nothing about electricity still?
I know a thing or two about it. I worked for his company for 2 years after graduating. Helped doing all the electricity on a new ware house, lights, alarms, speakers. At first I mostly just laid the cables, but later on I was permitted to do some small installations. Help doing other jobs too. But the ware house was the biggest one I helped with. I liked being on a construction site. But it's 3 years ago, I've forgotten some of the things I learned back then.
Ah, okay, that's cool. It seemed like you didn't know much about it when I was talking about it the other day. But if you were just laying cables you wouldn't necessarily have to.
Oh, you mean about the sockets and watt and whatnot? Yea, don't know a whole lot about that. Never needed too. I did a bit of everything and every time I just got told exactly how/what to do.Although I did find it pretty interesting. And I never did any of the sort of electricity you do in normal households. I've only been doing stuff on larger building i.e. construction sites.
I don't work much on bigger jobs like that, I mostly just fix stuff that is broken.
Hehe. But back to where we came from. I did find the job interesting and was considering taking the electrician education. I just ended up finding something that I found a little more interesting![]()
I never really considered doing any education for it, only Union idiots do education for trades around here.
In Denmark you have to take the education. But didn't your license take 5 years? What would you call that?
Well it's all on the job training, no real education per se.
I started out at about 7$ an hour. At 2 years I was making about 12$, at 4 about 18-20$ then at 5 I took over the business and make an undisclosed amount of money![]()
The electrician education, like all trade education here, are a mix of job training and then school.
So it would go something like maybe half a year in job training then 6-8 weeks in school and then job training again. (The lengths are not accurate, but it's about that timeframe)
