I keep seeing 'what is the best', so I gotta wonder, what is the most mediocre?
Im gonna say an untwinked smiter ... Ive managed to kill 3 of them this ladder so far ...
Blaze Sorc or Arctic blast Druid, with no summons...
You have to better define mediocre MYK. An untwinked Fendazon is a tough build to play, but she is also way fun to play. A summoner Necro is way safe to play and you know about them.
The fun is all that matters.
The most mediocre character would imo be the one that is closest to the middle ground. I.e. not the worst (a naked fistfighting non-elemntal aura pally or something equally useless) and not the best (any cookie-cutter), but rather something placing itself in the middle ground being able to beat the game solo without going over the top with patience and merc killing, but that will never be good enough to be commonly played.
I think MYK asked it to do a little "protest", because i don't believe he's not capable to build a mediocre character.![]()
Poison/valk javazon. Yea, you're not gonna die, unless you commit suicide that is.
For different definitions of mediocre...
I say it's a toss up between hammerdins with enigma and orbers though.
Hammerdins: Pretty much impossible to stand out when playing one due to being ridiculously powerful and overplayed. Kills stuff with a spell that's kind of annoying to use, but is still better than herding minions around, yelling at traps to target the right thing, and aiming tornados. Wears an outfit that doesn't really draw attention to the character (unless you talk to someone in GAT).
Orber: I measure things as being 'slower' or 'faster' than an orber for a reason. Maybe that reason is that I play too many orbers, but it's still the middle ground of damage from where I sit. I measure things as being 'squishier' or 'tankier' than them too. Ditto 'easier' and 'harder'. As far as common builds go, the only place she really stands out is mobility. But along comes enigma and she barely even has that any more.
So yeah, if you want to be mediocre compared to the b.net population, pick the hammerdin.
If you want a character that's a jack of all trades and master of none (except early season meph running!), pick the orber.
I'm sure there's other definitions of mediocre that could be used, but these are the two builds that pop into my mind.
a bash baba. 'everyone's' first character.
