Re: Dream Bearchantress guide, the "ultimate" melee sorc

Beast and dream are also costly for someone just starting out. A sorceress by definition is a caster so its easiest to gear them for casting skills, a melee based build for a sorceress although it can be done is usually more difficult then a standard setup with minimal gear. If you want to speed through the game you could probably spec as either a pure blizzard or pure fireball/meteor through most of normal and nightmare mode. Once you get into hell mode then you'll want to have some form of backup attack if you are playing on your own. Common skill combinations are blizzard/fireball (blizzballer), blizzard/nova (blova), and frozen orb/fireball (orbitaller)

Keep in mind, the end of the ladder season is coming up on the 28th, I think. This means two things. If you want to play ladder, you might just want to wait. If you don't mind playing non-ladder, they'll probably be a nice influx of giveaways coming up from people who only play ladder. I got my Beast from a generous donor, but if you're saavy enough, you'll know what to pick up and how to sell it. Trading on the forums is good for certain items, trading on bnet can be superior for others. Take a look at a pricing guide on the trade values forum to get an idea of what to hold onto and what's worthless.

You should probably read over this or another Bearsorc guide again. Holy Shock is provided by the Dream helm and Dream Shield. It is a Paladin skill that adds lightning damage to your weapon. Enchant, another skill used, adds fire damage to the weapon. Both are then amplified by masteries (twice). The reason you use Beast to transform into a bear is that as a Werebear you can achieve a very, very fast attack rate.

    The math:

    1 to 1668[lightning damage] * 5.1 [slvl 31 lightning mastery] * 5.1 [slvl 31 lightning mastery] = 25 to 43,385 lightning damage
    481 to 576 [slvl 33 fully-synergized Enchant] * 3.4 [slvl 31 fire mastery] * 3.4 [slvl 31 fire mastery] = 5,560 to 6,659 fire damage
That's 5,585 to 50,044 damage, or 27,814 average damage per hit, at 5 frames per attack.
That's 139,073 average damage per second.
