I will agree that the Republicans are looking pretty dismal, but I don't think that it's going to be enough to save Obama's bacon.

Then again, maybe that's just wishful thinking

Re: Is it too early to talk about the election?

Ugh, after his acceptance to that national defense act "black bag" bill I cant see obama winning. Newt is better than him at this point, and that is saying a LOT.

I feel bad for the Republican side. This is not the best they have to offer, but the people who are not a joke are sitting this one out because they assume Obama will get re-elected. I'm looking forward to the 2016 election myself.

This is how we get people like Newt as our candidate. Now is not the time to settle for the lesser of two evils. In face, given the state of things now, I'm not so sure that we can even endure another "lesser" without risking the official death of the U.S.A.

Please elaborate on that. Who would you like for them to offer?

Perhaps I should have thrown an "I hope" in there. I try to believe there are intelligent, sane, non-pander-bear Republicans somewhere, if they haven't all been ridden out of the party by now. John Huntsman seemed like the best bet of the current field, but that's obviously going nowhere. Though I disagree with him on most everything, I thought Mitch Daniels would have been a decent option too. Of course, he has even less charisma than Evan Bayh, somehow. I appreciate Chris Christie's candor and find him likeable and honest as well. I also appreciate the fact that he acknowledged he wasn't ready to be president. He may have a future.

To me one of the biggest problems in modern politics is that it doesn't matter who would be the best at running the country, but who is best at running for office. I'm sure you guys could go on for days about that in regards to Obama.

Wait, are you quibbling that the site isn't directly asserting his withdrawal, or just that my prognosticative powers aren't well recognized?
