Fastest way to get to level 5?

They have some kind of beta-key giveaway here in cologne where the person who gets to level 5 the fastest wins a beta key.

Any suggestions on what class/skill to take for a rush to level 5?

What he said. While leveling is very easy and fast with all classes, the early witch doctor pets and aoe make it the fastest early game leveler.

I won my key in a first to level 5 competetion using WD zombie dogs + plague of toads.
You should use plague of toads as a point blank spell. Run straight up to whatever you are trying to kill and spam it.
Also, dont stop to kill single monsters they arent worth your time unless they are straight in your path.
Questexp is super important, this means no detours. Try and find the exit as soon as possible, always.

Hello, thanks again for your advices/suggestions!

I've won the contest round I participated in despite some major hickups:

- had a disconnect right at the start which set me back by 2 minutes since the Blizzard guys had to decide on how to react etc.

- was very unlucky in the cathedral level since I encountered a unique mob (don't remember what monster type, was either the bats or the fat guys that explode into the cyan snakes) that spawn those rotating purple arcane beams that killed me and made me spawn at the dungeon entrance.

- killing the last monster to rescue cain (the big unique skeleton) didnt get me the level up I was hoping to get, still missed it by 1% XP or something, so I had to run back to town to actually finish the quest and take the quest reward.

So yeah, thank you guys again and see you in the beta!

me and my brother won a beta key this weekend, too. Unfortunately we are still waiting for our accounts to be flagged. So I just wanted to ask you if your account is already flagged and if not, do you know how much longer we have to wait?

When i got my key i got it about 4 days later and I got an actual key in my email that I then registred on my bnet account.

Thats interesting, because they asked me for my Battle.net account mail, so that they can flag it. They did not want to give me an actual key, because of the whole ebay thing etc.
