I want to be able to get rich so I can hook up my other characters which route should I take as my main?
Cold sorc is probably the easiest option to get mfing quickly for cheap. Meteorb is another decent option.
Good untwinked chars to start your MF career:
skeleton necro (farm worldstone and/or pit)
trap assassin (farm worldstone and/or pit)
hammer pally (farm worldstone and/or pit) -- hammerdins are boring
meteorb/blizzballer/pure blizz sorc (farm mephisto)
The first three can solo the whole game effectively untwinked. The sorc builds hit hard spots, particularly pure blizzard is great for running meph, but obviously can't deal with cold immunes in general play. The big advantage of sorcs is obviously you get teleport so you can run bosses quickly instead of clearing zones. Zone clearing isn't really a bad way to MF though, these days.
Dont f***** start with a hammerdin.. They are heavily gear dependent. And enigma costs so much!
A sorc gives you a safe route through normal and nightmare. And some areas are ideal for 1 element in Hell.
The sorc gives high mobility since they can have so much cheaper gear, and gets teleport for free!
Id go for the suggestions Magicrectangle mentioned.
Necro Summoner is the slowest killer, unless you use Corpse explosion. (which any necro should anyways..)
Trap assa gets a hard time in hell imo. Quite boring imo.
Meteor+Frozen Orb/Blizzard+FireBall/ Blizzard/Frozen Orb sorceresses are an awesome choice as the first character. Your choice.
The hammerdin is not a very good starter char, since he is gear dependent.
I did however start with a hammerdin.(Only made it through nm+hell with help from friends+free stuff)
Peace
what items should I be aiming to get first as a blizz mf sorc?
I assume you are on ladder right?
First goal should be an occy/shako. Good skills and an MF bonus. After that I would try to get the Tal's belt/armor/amulet for the nice MF bonus. After that get a pair of chance guards for more MF, and finally War Travelers. I say War travelers last because they are quite expensive at this point in ladder for a decent pair.
Boring? You're juggling 5 skills in most fights (cos, mindblast, ls, ds, fireblast), IMHO it is the least boring of those I listed. I did a trapsin for my first char this ladder, it is quite fun untwinked because you have to make tactical use of mindblast and cos instead of just spamming LS/DS. I suppose that might be what you mean by hard in hell?
As a bonus, once you have gear you can respec kick/trap and do ubers, while still being a very good zone clearer.
Whatever Meph drops for you. Blizz sorc is attractive because it functions fine without gear. The things that are within your control are low level RWs like smoke, lore, rhyme, spirit. Wealth is great if you get a lem. Blue MF rings / ammy work (you can gamble them). After that it is slot machine time.
I vote for a fishymancer. I just hit level 87 and am running pindle, LK, WSK and Diablo and having a blast. I was in the same position you are, as this was my first character and I started from scratch. I now have created enough runewords and found enough unique items to start a MeteOrb sorc. After that, I should be able to start a barb, hopefully a WW barb if I can find the IK set. I am also stacking up on base items for runewords.

is the link to Nightfish's guide. Follow it to a 'T' and you won't have any problems. I will just add one thing, play normal and nightmare on /players8 so you increase your levels faster and have enough skills to beat normal Diablo, specifically Decrepify and some Summon Resists so your skellies don't die in the first 2 seconds. Just a warning, that fight is brutal...
Hope that helps.

We all have our ways. Different and we dont taste the same!![]()
I started about a month ago and truly believe that fishymancer is the way to start. He provides a way to get gear until you can afford some nice gear for a MF sorc.
