Do damage mods from weapons transfer over to Iron Golem? What about the base damage? If I make an iron golem from an ebotd warpike will it do comparable amounts of damage?

You can give the same ebotd to merc. The problem is, merc also has armor and helm slots (can increase dps a lot), recieves STR bonus (200-250%) and uses Jab skills (+damage, +attack speed) which makes it ~10-20 times more effective in terms of dps (numbers are real, believe me) than golem, even when weapon on merc is equal to the one you've made IG from.

I'm curious about the possibility of an IG staying between games if you're not a necro... for instance, if you were wearing the "Oath" runeword, left a game and came back, would the IG stay? I'm thinking probably not, but it never hurts to ask

Nope, it's an absolute requirement that you have one hard point in the skill. :(
