    Screw IE indeed.
So what HDD's do you have, any masters and or slaves? Rebooted after you hooked them up and booted your pc for the first time?
Did the sound just dissappear or have you done something to make the sound go away, cause if it suddenly stopped, thats not so good.
Strange that D3 now works after installing java and or flash and that it doesn't come whining about missing one or both programs = bad programming ^^ (if D3 requires one or both to play)

I'm using 1 SSD (working since OS boots), 1x samsung 1 TB which worked from the start, and 2x Western Digital Cavier green 2 TB. It was probably something about the way I connected them, since there are 4x 3 GB SATA ports and 4x 6 GB, I'm guessing that some of the drives couldn't handle the 6 GB. At least after some repositioning, it now works.

The sound disappeared, and I didn't really no anything notable. Well some cable repositioning, but none of which I could tell was close to the fan. I also moved the HDD cage around a bit, pushing it out and back in, pulling lightly on the cables that connect to the fan, and it's gone now. I guess a cable could've been touching the fan just barely, but it didn't look like it. Then again it was damn near impossible to get a proper view. But the fan is still working, since I know from which fan the sound came from.

Indeed it is strange, and definitely bad programming. But then again if a program requires java and/or flash, it shouldn't be able to continue running the process should it? Since the process did continue to run, and I'd get an error message saying D3 was running if I tried starting it again. Only after the process was stopped could I start D3 again, get the launcher window, and press play only to see the same thing happen again.

Re: [OT]Hey Hey We're the MONKees...

If the drives are older then the MOBO then that will have indeed been the problem.
Then it could have been the HDD cage aswell, or indeed be a wire, but if you fixed the wires and everything and the sound is gone and every fan works, all is good

Depends on how it is written and what starts up, if they forgot a close program / process when required thing is missing and when closing give a message that required thing isn't there, then it can definatly keep on running, it keeps checking, not finding what to do and is stuck in a loop then.
I've written some of those ****ed up things myself when I learned a bit of programming some 8 years ago ^^ and created indefinite loops like that.
But it would seem strange that blizzard forgets something so basic as that. Could be though.
Still wondering if it indeed was the flash and / or java or something completely different.

The drives are indeed older, so I imagined that could be an issue. Tbh I didn't think there'd be 4 of each type. I expected 2x 6 GB 6x 3 GB ports. And since I'd found the 6 GB ports, and connected the SSD to one of the two, I didn't think to check the other 6 ports. But all is fine now, which I'd have no doubt it would be, considering it's my second personal build, and 4th overall, not counting stuff done at work. I've completely taken apart laptops before, and worked a bit with changing parts on desktops. So building a comp, and the issues that can arise is well known. Unless it's something really obscure.

Aye I'm baffled at that as well. It just might be something with how Windows 8 works though, and that D3 doesn't really need those two programs, but for some reason they (or one of them) was needed in Windows 8. I'm not about to sit down and do thorough testing, considering I worked overtime today, and most likely will tomorrow and Wednesday too. Possibly even on Thursday. >_>

Out of interest what are the full specs for this build. Of particular interest which tower did you use?

I saw this article http://www.tomshardware.com/pictures...-mini-itx.html man it is a thing of beauty.

Re: [OT]Hey Hey We're the MONKees...

    Case: Antec 1200
    Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth Z77
CPU: Intel i5-3570k with a Noctua NH-U9B SE2 to cool it
    GPU: Geforce GTX 580
RAM: 16 GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 MHz
PSU: PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750W

I used to have a Creative X-Fi Platinum sound card, but it doesn't fit on the new motherboard, but I might just look into replacing my 5.1 speakers to a 2.1 setup. Don't really have the space to properly place the 5.1 speakers.

Edit: Haven't had time to read the story, but I can already tell it's a beautiful build! Packing all the hardware into a mini-ITX is not bad! ^_^

Re: [OT]Hey Hey We're the MONKees...

Have a read of it, I am amazed they managed to make it only 4" wide (10 cm) and 13" tall (~ 33cm).

If I would build myself a new computer I'd build it in this!

I generally prefer smaller cases, I am thinking my next build will be in a micro-atx.

Its preference, if I have the space to put it I'll go for a big case, with loads of space and extra's.
