Interesting build i may try out utilizing mirror images as a defense and aoe combined.
Runed teleport(fracture) spawning two mirrors instantly when you arrive.
Runed mirror images (mocking demise) to cast 2 more images that add an aoe when destroyed plus a 50% chance to stun enemies for 5 secs on destruction.
Blizzard (stark winter) increasing size and damage of blizzard.
Ray of frost (snow blast) for boss and champion killing.
Energy armor (energy tap) for increased ap
Familiar (Arcanot) for ap regen since i dont use a signature spell
passives....Astral presence more ap and regen
Glass cannon = more damage
Illusionist for the ability to spawn up to 4 more mirrors instantly
In a perfect world it goes like this... Spot a group teleport a few yards in front of (not in),now you have 2 mirrors , strafe left or right a bit pop Mirror spell now you 4 images up to distract and do aoe and possible stun when destroyed. Spam blizzard till images die or your illusionist procs and then you repeat a teleport and mirror combo...with a bit of luck you take 15% damage from a range mob or a straggler both cooldowns reset and now you cast both spells again. You could have up to 8 images up at once acting as decoys and descent aoe while spamming blizzard...using ROF for stragglers and of course bosses.
Just an idea may or may not be practical![]()

Sounds like a good idea. Hopefully the AP regenerates fast enough to keep it up. Besides that, some foes will still be after you despite of the images.
Its been a long time since I played D2, but blizzard wasnt channeled was it?
The equation for calculating the # of casts possible,
(a-r* t^2)*(c-1) = m-a
=> c =(m-rt^2)/(a-rt^2)
a = arcane power cost
m = maximum arcane power
r = regen rate of arcane power
t = cast speed
c = # of casts
Ray of Frost
c =(160-19*1^2)/(29-19*1^2) =14.1 casts with cast time of 1 second
Blizzard(Assuming its not channeled, which I doubt it is)
c =(160-19*1^2)/(45-19*1^2) = 5.4 seconds with cast time of 1 second.
Using Ray of Frost Crimson without a large reserve of AP hurts the dmg.
