It doesn't matter in what direction you move in relation to the enemy. After the animation started the attack will land in a circle around the monster, just like in D3. I'm not at home at the moment, so I can't record a video of this in D2 for you, but you can try it yourself if you still have D2 installed. Over the years I died with many Barbs because of this, when I tried to run around the Doom Lords in Act 5 (the dual-wielding minotaurs with Frenzy).
I also recorded a another video of this when I was testing the range with Vault. You can find it here if you want to watch it: http://diablo.incgamers.com/forums/s...t=#post8267691
Whay would a Diablo game be without lag?
Impossible, since D3 is online only.
However, this isn't lag. It's a fully intentional game mechanic.

Whenever I get hit by a long range melee attack it makes me feel like I'm lagging.
This video is terrible and biased. Why? Because instead of demonstrating this with a normal Diablo 3 beta monster, he chose the one with the slowest attack animation by far, and the monster who has a weird AI due to the "big-hit" it can do (which is avoidable).
Sorry but videos like this make me very angry, because they are nothing but smokescreens and very misleading.
I agree. That's why I said that the Sorc wasn't fast enough to show off the the maximum hit range in D2 very well. The range is longer than what's visible in the video. I couldn't find a better example than this though.
Still, the important thing is that even that video establishes that this feature was present in D2 as well. I posted a video in the thread I linked to that I think demonstrates the hit range in D3 much better.
DUDEs, you expect us to read all that.
