Hello to all.
Question as in title.
Are there any SP players in this forum??
and if there is any around,
which version do u use?
I can't decide between 1.09 for the old time sake or the 1.13 for the well-known mechanics of the gameplay.

I play 1.13c Classic SP. Personally, I love the challenge that 1.10+ patches offer Classic players, as the mechanics are quite clearly adapted entirely for LoD gameplay. Of course, the same can be said for 1.07-1.09, but there is a lot less disparity between Classic and LoD in those patches. 1.06 may also be worth considering, as it is the last purely classic patch, although the gameplay back then was quite different. Overall, each patch has its pros and cons, so it really comes down to personal preferances. I reckon you will have fun regardless of which version you choose.
I wish I could be a bit more help, but my knowledge pertaining to older patches is somewhat lacking.
Oooh~ Well at least there IS someone who plays Classic SP. Too bad there aren't more. =P
Just as a noobie question, how do u deal w/ immunes as a SP in hell?? Without merc to deal chunks of dmg, I can't think of a good way to deal w/ immunities...
Also, are you using ATMA for classic muling? it seems GoMule corrupts gamefiles T^T. I just don't like the fact taht i ahve to click and drag for ATMA... but i guess i'll learn to ignore it soon. =P

In my experience, Classic offers far fewer opportunities for experimentation than LoD, thereby reducing replayability. Since replayability is a huge aspect of D2, it is unsurprising that Classic is generally ignored in favour of LoD. Even so, one would think that the strong emphasis on rare items would be enough to retain a fair number of players. Anyway, to answer your questions:
1) Immunities can be tricky and and generally require careful build planning. With physical and magic damage based characters, I usually just ignore the immune monsters, as there are relatively few of them, although occasionally I will just overcome the immunity with a utility skill like Amplify Damage, Berserk, or Sanctuary. With elemental damage based characters, I usually design them to focus on dealing two different types of damage, although non-lite Sorcs can often rely on Static Field in conjunction with something like a +5 Blizzard/Fire Wall/Lightning staff in the stash to deal with a single immune monster. Bear in mind that this advice just pertains to questing, as most specific targets/areas worth running, aside from CS and Trav, do not require sacrifices to be made in order to deal with immunities.
2) Yes, I have used ATMA for quite some time without a single compatibility issue that was not quickly and painlessly resolved. Still, I have heard that it is actually possible to conduct Classic muling with GoMule, but to do so requires such a great deal of careful oversight that I would never recommend it.
The main issue with classic is that it indeed has far less replayability. Only a few cookie-cutter builds work. The others are nothing but slow and painful ways to annoy yourself. And for some you still have to go through the process of getting a decent weapon.
D2C is for those who enjoy a simpler, but harder, game than LOD. Some, like me, went back to D2C to get rid of the teleport craze.
Sorry for the "lateness" in this reply... I was browsing and came across this thread.
I recently started playing Classic SP in v1.06b -- I wanted to revisit the game as it was before LoD (v.07) was released.
I'm remembering how difficult it was to get adequate resistances, and how the monsters have incredible AR (due to a bug, I think?).
Anyway, I've got a Hammerdin up to level 47 in NM Act 4, and I'm making several runs through NM Chaos to try and get him up to level 50 before making the move to Hell (mostly to get my life up).

There might be the FE bug. Where a monster is Fire Enchanted (and probably something else, because very few FE monsters have this) causing them to do massive (more life then you can get with any char) damage when they die.
Classic, where a runeword is a weapon missing the s in the middle.
