Was watching this female barb video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCh1s...el_video_title
If you jump to 7:15 you'll see a unique mob 'Uzay the Hellion' with the suffix 'Molten'. The barb take Uzay out without too much trouble but like 1-2 seconds after doing Uzay explodes and it one shots the barb! Not sure if this is from the Molten suffix or unique to the mob but if I was playing hardcore I could hve easily been caught off guard by it and died.
hmmm. maybe I should do a few play throughs on softcore first.....
I've seen the Frozen attribute do the same thing. They've been saying for literally years they were gonna be doing away with "one-shot kill" style difficulty.....
I did see that earlier and it did not seem clear to me exactly what killed the barb.
I guess the lesson is, don't stand next to the growing fiery ball of death. Especially if you are not at full health.
If this had been hardcore, the barb would have deserved the death.
Yeah I saw that. It's this fire ball that grows and then explodes after you kill the mob. Ice does the same thing. He stood there right next to it like a dope. It takes about 2 seconds to blow. This is good as there is no longer any issue of killing a FE monster and it suddenly gimping you on the last hit.
To be fair, the barb was at half health when it exploded. :/I've seen the Frozen attribute do the same thing. They've been saying for literally years they were gonna be doing away with "one-shot kill" style difficulty.....
I think the barbarian should have tried to attack from the edge to maintain a higher health pool. Using the run into the middle and get surrounded technique and the loot while there are still enemies attacking you is not a one hit kill. He is at half health so it is not a one shot.
True but it takes normal mobs like 30 seconds of attacking to take off that much health.
But yes your right, I guess it wasn't a one shot. Although all we now is it took at least half her health.
Once i put the video up to 1080p then I could see the growing fire ball so I guess it's easy to avoid.
I have watched a lot of Snarky's vids and while they are pretty to look at I would not consider him a "good" player. He is a bit slow and when I watch him I wonder if this is the type of player Jay speaks of when saying people had a hard time with things.
I still say the balance is going to be bad, like in D2. 90% of monsters will be no threat at all, 9% will be somewhat dangerous, and 1% will kill you no matter what. We see the ground work being laid down as early as this beta. You could go afk and a lone zombie would have maybe done 10 dmg to you by the time you get back. But you lose half HP if you're anywhere near a Grotesque when it pops it's worms.
