I'm just curious how this works: so you download the launcher, that will get data from battle.net to your computer so you can install the game? Or is all the data in the file already?

Pretty much, but you don't have to install it separately. It's downloaded and installed at the same time.

But can't Blizzard just restrict people from downloading the data? Or would that mess things up for employes and people in F&F beta (if it has begun)?

Also if I install this, could Blizzard detect that when I install the real deal later?
