I also have been enjoying the podcast over the past few weeks since I discovered them. I like the weekly news format that just has a quick rundown of what is going on.
In regards to the RMAH, I do not see the big deal about. As of right now you will only be able to play with 3 other people in a game so chances are you will be playing with more people that you know. I also agree that is you are playing with random people that you are playing co-op so it really does not put you at any disadvantage.
In regards to PvP I do not see how it has any meaningful impact. The items in the RMAH will be made up of items that drop in game so your chances of fighting someone with that item are exactly the same. Granted you could have someone that just goes out and buys all the elite items and equips them on one character making them super strong. What that has done is lessen your chance of playing people with the individual awesome items since they are not spread out...and lets be honest...the community will have a way to shun those who have all the best items 2 months after the game releases.
