Hello.
I've been on and off D2 for almost a decade and the last 1~2 of it on SP.
I've recently returned to D2, of course LoD, and decided i have enjoyed LoD for long enough. I have tried SP Classic before, just once, and quickly gave up. However, I am now back and to keep myself from quitting... - just like how i quit LoD 5 minutes ago - I'm going to challenge myself to a SP HC Classic.
I've never tried HC before, so i assume i will have MANY MANY deaths until i get the hang of it...
Anywho... Are there any SP users in this forum??
I know there are a few that plays many different versions of D2, but I rarely see them in the Classic forum. It would be lovely if i knew that i'm not alone. =P

I've only played one HC character so far, but it was nice. I was a martyr paladin (sacrifice/might), who used a short sword the whole game, up to NM diablo.
Since the character was quite underpowered, the game feel was very, very different. I couldn't get cocky, kept changing equipment according to area resists needs and was always careful not to wake up too many monsters. Only once did I get swarmed, by a couple of spiders in the kurast temples, and my life orb went below 1/2. But I managed to survive.
SP is ideal for HC, since you have no lag. In classic you don't easily get away with original builds, so I advise to just pick a cookie-cutter one and start from there. Since you are experienced, if you're cautious you can easily finish hell without many close-calls. Trouble happens mostly when you get overconfident and start wacking at a boss pack only to find out at deeds that it was xstrong, cursed, fana enchanted![]()
you might want to consider using patches 1.06 or older if youre playing single player since some of the balance changes blizz has made since then are... questionable.
There are some Classic players in the SPF but not many, mostly playing the current patch. Check out this thread for a recent Classic-only tourney.
