Hey guys. I played D2 when it first came out, single player only, for awhile. I just always kept to myself and never really went looking for more info. I played it off and on since then a few times. I got ahold of the Expansion earlier this year and wow, I have really gotten into it, probably more so than I ever had before. With all the extra items added and new things going on, I ventured out to find more info. This site has really helped me out, and I cant believe some of the numbers I see. I really need a mule, I have figured out that much anyway!
I started a Sorceress when I got the expansion and have played through on normal, like I have before, and started nightmare, which I never done, I just stopped after I beat the game on normal usually. The extra Act was awesome, and nightmare is crazy, that is all I can say. I am fully immersed in this game now. I cant wait until D3 comes out.
Has anybody had any trouble with the graphics? I will be playing and all of a sudden the screen will go all crazy with the colors turning neon-like. I found a post about opening up the screen resolution tab and leaving it up while playing and this has seemed to help alot. The problem only happens every once in awhile now. Thanks for any help.
I've not heard of this problem, but I'd figure your laptop/computer isn't able to handle the game, or you need to change your resolution or something :/
Welcome to the forums too!
Good luck and don't hesitate to ask any questions, but make sure you use the search function first
P.S. Before you ask a question regarding drops etc, use ATMA![]()
Regarding the borked colours: You can give Sven's Glide Wrapper a try. Just extract the files into your D2 directory and, run D2VidTst.exe (which is already there), skip the test and choose 3Dfx Glide. Running in windowed mode might also help (go to your shortcut's properties and add " -w" after the quotation mark in the target box). It might strain your eyes at first, but once you've gotten use to it fullscreen looks terrible.
Be sure to check out the rules if you plan on posting or trading here, and definitely give GoMule a try. Welcome and good luck![]()

I've had some trouble with colors going mad in the past. I could be mistaken since it's been a while, but IIRC it had to do with the virusscan updating in the background while i was playing (it certainly was some program running on the background in my case). Usually minimizing the screen (alt + tab) and then going back fullscreen solved the problem. But certainly annoying.
And before i forget: welcome!
I am surprised that the shin kickers haven't shown up yet. they will, it's not my job to shin kick. So welcome and check out the forum stickies they will help you get a good start and answer a lot of questions.
I don't know to much about the graphics problem, execpt that when i had graphic problem i discouvered that it was my graphics card. I hope you don't have to go down that road.

Welcome! I look forward to seeing you around the forum. Anyone with "Dark Star" in his/her handle is good by me!
*deftly kicks darkstarhub's shins, then walks away*
Welcome! What patch are you playing?
I had the neon negative-photo problem when my Firewall app would pop up not letting the game run - it was ZoneAlarm - I had to make sure D2 was on all ZA approved lists.
Welcome!

Sorry, it had to be done!
I will 2nd what cyrax said about the video, that was always what I had to do on my previous computer.
Thanks guys. My shins have been beat up pretty bad so far in my life seeing that I used to skate when I was younger, but kick away! I am working on getting GoMule, that seems like the way to go. I have just gotten started on Nightmare and the unique monsters and drops are crazy, so I really need some more room. I am running the 1.13 patch on Lord of Destruction. I think the problem I am having might be something to do with Norton, I am going to look into it more. But for some reason, when I open the Screen resolution tab and leave it up, the problem has only happened 2 times in the last week.
Welcome! There is a lot for you to find out. Even though the game is old, it has some serious depth in it. There is so much knowledge around these forums, I'm surprised about it every day!
What kind of build do you play with your sorceress? With build I mean what skills do you specialize in? I'm asking this because I remember myself making very bad skill planning decisions while being new to the game. Even though I'm not saying everyone should follow the same decisions, it's sad to see a new player frustrating and leaving the game because (s)he can't beat Hell difficulty.
Luckily, there are respecializations available in 1.13 (you can reset your stats/skills) so if you feel like you need some help with your choices, ask away!
