Don't know if your avatar counts as a "book", but ever since I came back to the forums, and I saw it, I've been reading the Calvin and Hobbes comics again ;-)

I'm hoping someone else good finds a packet of Papers?
Style and layout of the stories

The series is a classic use of false documents. In a preface to the first book, Fraser described the discovery of General Flashman's memoirs in an antique tea-chest in a Leicestershire saleroom in 1965. As the "editor" of the papers, Fraser produced a series of historical novels that give a largely picaresque (or arguably cynical) description of British and American history during the 19th century. Dozens of major and minor figures from history appear in the books, often in inglorious or hypocritical roles. Characters from other fictional works appear occasionally, notably Sherlock Holmes and some of the boys from Tom Brown's Schooldays.

    Yeah Right

    George MacDonald Fraser

was one of the best military writers out there.

Been waiting for more Flashman for a while.

Why not? It's far more ban-able than anything that goes on hereabouts, including my artistic barracks mouth.

    The War in 2020
by Ralph Peters. He's a retired MI Lieutenant Colonel, and one of the few media- military analysts worth squat IMO - he's often called for an unpleasant opinion on Fox N00z.

The book is a fun read, in the spirit of Tom Clancy with far less dependency on jargon to carry the plot, with lots of interesting and thought-provoking bits. Not a cheesy-happy book; America in decline. I think it could be reworked to a hot modern screenplay if the villainous nation was changed from Japan to China.

Why not, indeed? Apparently, I have no idea why or why not!

Back OT, I am currently reading an Eric Lust in the Dust Lustbader pot boiler, one of his Nicholas Linnear efforts.
I much preferred the Sunset Warrior sequence. This current one, Second Skin, is pants.

    Not a Book. Many Books.
    Newspaper and book
    Bill Waterson
    Comic Series - groundbreaking -
unconventional - universally human and something to identify with no matter your stage of life. A true free human and anarchist learning the ropes the hard way we all dimly remember somehow.

I love having to search my two favorite sections of the bookstore for him.

It's E.V. at least, Lust in the Dust? LOL I get it but hey!

    Give the Artist some credit.

(my have mentioned this before) I remember when I was a teen, I went on vacation in Greece with my Mom.

I was reading Don Quixote de la Mancha, in Spanish. She was reading some of E.VonL.'s dross. She thought that was hilarious, while I thought it was embarrassing. "Artist"?
