## Re: Rubik's Cube

In that case, it can't be solved in 21 moves. I just made a test and it took me 112 moves (rotations) to solve it.

## Re: Rubik's Cube

Can be. You would have to be able to think waay in advance, like playing chess. I'm sure they have it proven mathematically somewhere, I'm just curious to know if anyone can think that far ahead to do it.

Heres Wikipedia.

## Re: Rubik's Cube

That's way too complex for my tiny brain to understand.

## Re: Rubik's Cube

I can't understand it either, but I'm sure there's a "Bobby Fischer" of Rubiks Cubes.

EDIT: Bobby Fischer The man was a genius.

I don't mean the algorithm, but the very shortest, direct route. It has been mathematically proven. If you scramble it with 10 moves, you can obviously solve that particular scenario in 10 moves, but finding that perfect solution is probably impossible to find for a human mind. Algorithms for humans needs far more than that.

BTW, it's actually 20 not 21.

Its not picking a particular senario, its being able to reason it from any given senario/number of moves. I don't think it would be too far of a strech for a speed cuber to be able to do. They already know what algorithms to use based on sube positions, so if they understood what they were doing (not just following a recipie engrained in their brain) then with a bit (hours/days ) of time I bet they could solve it in 20 moves.

## Re: Rubik's Cube

What you are referring to, Trionth, is dependent on some of the cubies. From what I understand, in order to solve it in 20 moves (the God's algorithm as I've read it being referred to as) you would need to remember A LOT of cases depending on all 24 pieces of the cube. I don't even have an idea how many those are, let alone memorize at least one.

## Re: Rubik's Cube

I was thinking you wouldn't have to memorize everything. You should be able to logic through them. Thinking about how each move would affect future moves. Like chess. (maybe I'm completely off here in relating this to the way you think ahead in chess)

## Re: Rubik's Cube

That would only help with speeding up your solve. That's how the real speed cubers work as far as I know, they plan ahead each move in their minds. Like chess as you mentioned. But it's way out of my league.
