Does SC2 story have you worried?

Overall, as for the RTS, story in SC2 is quite good. But for me it just seems a bit dull here and there. Mostly because of:
1. stupid nature of the artifact and its defenders - why protoss doesn't used it vs zerg while war on Ajur???
2. Kerrigan became some kind of depressed EMO girl in SC2.
3. protoss fleet flying around cleansing infested terran worlds while their own world is completely overrun by zerg. Also keep in mind that there's not much protoss survived and all of them have to be busy atm on Shakuras by rebuilding/recovering whats left from they're race.

1) The Protoss CANT use it (it safe in bits but once there's more than 2 parts it deadly to them) it explained in the lab if you click on it in the side dialogue, you get told that it basically sucks energy from it surroundings and in the process it kills any Protoss.

3) The Zerg are not attacking the Protoss yet (the only protoss under attack are the Tal'darim, artifact guardians. The rest are attacked in the Prophecy Vision BTW you are told that the ZERG have all ready killed every last Terran IE the humans are all dead before the Zerg attack the protoss)

As for the ending if you view it with subs on it tells you it is Mengsk speaking to Tychus.

As for most of it remember guys we only got 1/3 of the story.

The way the prophecy was presented, it could be understood that the "Queen of Blades" was the one to save the universe, not the un-infested Kerrigan. Who knows what might happen.

Duran, which is in big part the responsible of Hybrid creation, is obviously Dr. Narud, from Moebius. Valerian made the direct pact with Tychus so he could work for Moebius.

But, Mengsk (or Duran using Mengsk voice and image) also offered something to Tychus in order to kill Kerrigan. If the prophecy is true, this would certainly mean that Duran/Narud would want Kerrigan death, hence making everything happen just so Tychus went near Kerrigan to kill her.

On the other hand, if Mengsk himself and without any issue from Moebius tasked Tychus to kill Kerrigan, maybe Narud's plans were to disable Kerrigan as an infested, therefore in this version they manage to do it and the prophecy still goes on.

Also. What makes us believe that the "Dark Voice" wasn't actually creating that Tassadar image or the Overmind's vision?. Maybe Zerathul himself was tricked into believing something, maybe Kerrigan isn't the one to save the universe... Maybe even Mengsk is the one to save the universe... We don't know yet.

If any of you guys made it to the secret level, well there's something interesting in there too. On a secret Dominion lab is where one of the kinds of Hybrids is being done. So, either Mengsk himself is helping create some of the hybrids, or Moebius through Valerian is allowing that to happen, without Mengsk's intervention.

All of you guys do are forgetting about Duran and the Moebius guys, right?

Now that's a real response IMO. I agree with your assessment of the story. We end up with a lot of "maybe this is how it all played out". When none of it really makes any sense.

Yes, I'm sure it will end up being fine that Kerrigan was turned human. It's a game. Of course it will all work out.

The problem is that it's not rational in any way. If someone told me that there was one soldier who could beat and enemy army and he had to live. I sure as heck wouldn't chop the guy's arms and legs off and say "but he's still alive" when the enemy army slaughters me. It's just common sense.

I actually don't understand the point anyway. Didn't they basically hammer home that Kerrigan had free will even as the Queen of Blades? In SC the cerebrets were ticked at her seeming insubordination to the overmind. In the vision from Tasadar he said that the overmind created her to be the savior. She should have been acting with freewill already apparently.

As far as we know neither Valerian nor Arcturus had enough knowledge to be the sole influence behind Tychus. So, either they're working together master minding the whole thing or someone wrote a plothole filled story.

The secret missions were interesting. We've yet to see them payoff though. It's easy to create a puzzle and let the player think of a cool payoff. It's harder to actually come up with a cool payoff that everyone enjoys.

I'm just glad the recent news article pointed out that the writing teams are totally different.

Compared to the epic and well crafted story in StarCraft 1, SC2's Terran campaign seems like they handed everything setup in the first game to a team of writers from Lost said 'have at it'.

Despite the fact that the story is incredibly childish and simplistic?

I have some problems with the story inaccuracies but I can't really shake the feeling it was written for 13 yr olds. Similar to my feeling after reading one of the diablo books.

That doesn't necessarily make something bad. Plenty of the Pixar movies are pretty darn good and they're written for like 2 - 10 yearolds.

I don't think Lord of the Rings was intended to be an adult drama and it's enjoyable to millions. I guess I'm not too worried about them making the story for all ages.

So, you don't care about having fun as long as it's mature? I don't think we see eye to eye. I'd be perfectly happy with comedy in D3 if it's done well and is entertaining.
